Pretty sure 2009 (the purple one with the web on the blade) was only 300. I was looking at the product insert yesterday. :)

Thanks for the pics, Studey. Still more of a brown to my eye but I dig the unique color either way.

It looks ALOT like the 2012 Meerkat Sprint Run burgundy color...or are my eyes failing me?

I got so busy at work today that all my plans to sneak away and order one didn't happen. I was pleasantly surprised to see them still available when I got home tonight! It took a whole bunch of attempts but I got through and got my order in. I can't wait to get it! Thanks Spyderco!

Despite reading the forums almost daily somehow I missed the original announcement and just saw this thread. Thankfully they were still in stock, the Native 5 is my favorite lightweight! :)

No problem! It's a maroon in real life, but definitely a brownish shade of maroon. Definitely one of the most refined lockbacks I've felt regarding the action. Extremely smooth, but an extremely tight lockup.

Me neither, and still in both PE and SE! I am very pleasantly surprised that they are still available.

But, I'm even more excited about the Native. I had been holding on the S35VN N5 Ltwt, waiting for the S110V version. But then the news of this version dropped, and it being a forum knife, and in a steel I don't have much experience with, it was relative no-brainer. I'm excited!

Agreed. I picked mine up at the SFO on my lunch break Monday also and I think Studey's photo looks pretty color-accurate on my screen. There is more of an "earthy" tint to it than the wine color I think of when I hear "maroon", but it's very nice and classy. I like it.

And mine came hair-popping sharp out of the box. Cuts circles in paper no problem. Much sharper than the factory edge on my 2013 Forum Native was.

Hnnnnnh*

I weakened and have ordered one. Now to cross my fingers and pray Mount 'Doom', the HMRC sorting centre don't decide to get 'creative' in their interpretation of what's a legal knife in the UK......again.

*Yes, that's the noise I made. I've had 2 hours sleep and spent 4.5 hours nursing my wife after 2 hours listening to the mouth-breathers in the emegency medical centre. I would like this to all be taken into account when I'm whinging later. :)

Never enough manixiiiii!!! I only have 1 native Von s35vn, just a tad too small for my taste but I'm glad it seems to be being received well!

Oh no! I'm on vacation and thought these went on sale today, not yesterday. How did I get that mixed up? I hope I can still get one!

I need to stay calm and breathe deep. It's gonna be OK. :-/
