I've thought about creating this thread a couple times. I love Michael Janich designs, can't wait for this one too!

I will probably buy two. I like anything Mr. Janich designs, not to mention a fix blade Wharnecliff in the Spyderco lineup will be a huge plus.

I'm actually looking forward to a Ronin Sprint in a useful steel, so I can use it for every day chores. Something really exotic like S30v would please me....anything other than BD1.

i don't have any knives with BD1, so can't really comment on its "usefulness" as a blade steel. I'm sure Spyderco wouldn't use a steel that is sub par on any of their knives. I hope it is a steel that is easily sharpened in the field without massive amounts of work to get a useable edge on it.

BD1 was designed for use in knives, so it can't be that bad. Again, it depends on what you are trying to do. The Ronin 2 is a self defense knife, it doesnt need to have the same edge properties of an EDC knife. It only needs to be sharp, and ready to go on that fateful day. Naturally, people are going to try to use it in a more utilitarian role which is fine, but you might be better off picking a different knife for that.

Back to the reason this thread was started. I think the release must be a ways off still, otherwise someone from Spyderco would have chimed in. Just a guess, and I hope I'm wrong :)

This one looks very interesting! I will be watchful for announcements. I will almost certainly buy one, and if it fits me well, will buy more, as I did with the original.
