Anyone out there remember what steel was used in the Solo 3 (FRN handle/lightweight version)?
It takes a very respectable edge, despite the thick-ish grind and awkward sharpening access on the "lobe" side of the blade.

Re: Solo 3 question
Ooops...
Re: Solo 3 question
I saw that the *Spyderco Solo* AO05, was AUS-10, but the Solo3 is a decade earlier IIRC... (catalog PDF says 1995) I found an expired auction page that claimed the blade was AUS-8, but that's pretty weak "evidence".

Re: Solo 3 question
This catalog has the S003 as having an AUS-8 blade steel.

Thanks remnar! I also have a couple of the Moki knives from that period, I never knew they were Spyderco imports before this.

I'm amazed that it took me so long to get here...
Thanks for hosting this awesome little forum, it's really refreshing to see one that ticks over so smoothly and congenially! ...even the arguments are friendlier than regular "discourse" on some other forums

Thanx, Most here help us keep it comfortable. We get a "butt nugget" every now and then, but they smooth out or leave.
