I'm Thinking Stretch in Super Blue - Good Choice??

Post by dreadpirate »

So I was looking at a Manix 2 XL black on black. Now I am doing a 180 and thinking a Stretch in Super Blue. Is that a good choice?? What do you guys think of Super Blue??

SB tarnishes, and that may be an issue for you if you let a patina develop against the normally uneven cladding lines. But SB is a wonderful steel. It takes a fine edge quite readily and holds that edge rather well. And the cladding, though prone to scratching, does impart extra toughness to the overall blade.

Is $116 delivered to my door a good price for a Stretch Super Blue Sprint Run? Hope so cause I just ordered it. I had a hard time finding one in stock. How long ago did they make these?

The SuperBlue models were a Sprint run from last summer. Not a lot left nowadays, unfortunately.

That is one knife that I've been wanting to pick up for a while. Get it while you still can. Super blue is an amazing steel.

That's only about 10$ more than when they were first released, I believe.

I am amazed at the fact these are still available for order somewhere!? In my own home state too (although about 300 miles north)!
...and dreadpirate, just a heads up, I'm not sure you're supposed to post links to items for sale.

With the popularity, and nearing cult status of Super Blue, and skyrocketing resale prices of Caly Super Blues, and even Delicas and Manbugs... I cannot believe the Stretch is still up for grabs!

This almost compels me to order another, although current budget says I shouldn't. :o
Going back to Caly.

Good choice, this duo rides in my front pocket and coin pocket whenever I wear jeans. Pre-ordered them both and don't regret it one bit. FYI, I paid $115 for the Stretch in March of last year so yeah, $116 is perfectly okay. Image

Any time you are wondering "Is that a good choice?" with respect to a NIB Stretch, the answer is "Yes!"

I have a SB Stretch. It's great. Very different from the Manix2 XL, so swinging from one to the other is a little surprising.

Just got it today. I did not realize the handle color was unique to the Super Blue model. I thought it was the same grey as used on the Delica/Endura FRN. It's a very nice blue color. The knife handles extremely well. I was initially put off by the stretch since it looks a little goofy. This knife is a nice size and handles well. Just as sharp or sharper than any VG-10 knife I have. Could not be happier with the purchase.
