the SHTF , grab *1* blade
That would be my "homegrown" 15" Bowie...But since I keep all my spydies in one box, the bowie would come in second <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Repeat the mantra - "Spydie is good, Round is all - Life is Round, Life is Good, Spydie is Life is Round is LIfe. Round and Round, and Round forever." (Chuck.)

Aw, that's easy. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I'd just grab my ever-handy Starmate in SE. <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> That knife can give a whole lot of lovin' to anything that is thrown at it. (I speak from experience, just ask my Math book...<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)

Whatever I've got on me! I'm inclined to say my new Chinook, because it's so big and bad it seems like it could handle anything, but I'm not sure I could get it opened fast enough. I've already worn my thumb raw trying different opening teqniques on it, and I've yet to come up with a fluid one-handed opening.

VAMP good post BUT
5 seconds is not a lot of time and from reading everyones posts it took them way more than 5 seconds to pick out which knife they wanted to use - ALL DEAD -
That's the problem with having tooooo much of a good thing. Should just have one!!!!!!
MIDGET- A little story about running. (sometimes the best thing to do!)
Two guy's out hiking come around a bend in the trail and come face to face wit a big old grizzly and her cubs. They both freeze and one of them slowly removes his backpack and opens it and removes his tennis shoes and startes removing his boots to put them on. His buddy looks down at him and shakes his head and say's are you crazy you can't out run a grizzly. His buddy looks up and say's I don't have to out run that bear I just have to out run you!!!!!!!
Good friend huh???

No time at all needed to think abot this one and maybe three seconds to have it in hand....yes, my SE Military.
Rex - What you need is some Bear Repellent... Spray it on yer self, and even if he gets you, he won't like you. <img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I guess it would depend on 'when' the sh*t hit the fan.
-if during any normal waking hour, it would the knife in my right front pocket.
- if it was during the sleeping hours alerted, a Cold Steel Tanto it the closest and fastest to grab.
in summary, anyone of my knives would feel any of the requirements.
