Manix 80mm old school

What was the last year they made the original Manix 80mm C101GP?
This lockback is built super strong. Wish they still made this and it's larger brother.

Spydiewiki says the C101G was produced from 2005-2007. I own the C95 Sprint and it's a BEAST of a blade. For all out brawn and indestructibility, this has to be high on the Spyderco list. 4mm blade thickness...Come On Somebody :eek: :p

But Sal still makes other very large folders. The "old" Manix is a beast that still sees time in my pocket. (But today it's a Farid K2 in it :D )

Yup, the MiniManix 80 mm, in actuality closer to 83 mm...

Beefy blade stock, but FFG which aids in sliceabliltiy...

Hefty lock bar with largish male hammer & female notch on tang makes for considerable, better than average locking strength...

My favorite feature of the MiniManix is the fluid, almost hydraulic glide of the blade & lockbar upon deployment...very zen & sublime...

I keep mine in the top drawer just to fondle and spyderbate

Count me in as another Large lockback Manix fan. It sure gives a secure feeling in the hand. I always dreamed about one in a tool steel. I respect S30V but I don't think it's a surprise I'm one to prefer tougher tool steels. Corrosion resistance is very low on my priority list as maintenance for any tool I use is just part of using it. Everything I did as a kid from hoing the garden to riding a tractor wasn't finished until everything was cleaned, maintained , fueled if needed and put away in the correct spot. That's one reason I suppose the Army came so easy to me. The parts of it that made sense anyways.

I never picked up the Manix 80/83 version...were the dimensions similar to the original C95, minus the length?
I have four of the original Manix knives. They're amazing.

I'm supposed to be getting mine in my hands tomorrow afternoon, very excited to say the least. After tmw I'll have 4 manix'i(?) haha. Love them dearly.

No, I am not the originator, I am just a practitioner. :p

I think some here call it knife-terbating or something like that.

The MiniManix is basically just a smaller version of the original C95...the handle ergos are a bit different.

Grab one if you can if you like the original!

Here is a picture of my sprint C95.

I'm still hunting for another standard c95 and the c101gw.

I love the original manixes more then the manix2's.
The super Backlock and the thick blade are just perfect.
And i must say the manix 2 may have a thinner blade but the Original Manix is for me personally the best of the two in overal cutting.

Well, I picked up a like-new Manix gen 1 on Ebay for about $70 a few months ago, and I got my new-in-box Mini for $95 from Ebay about a year ago, so keep looking.

I had the Mini-Manix momentarily at one point (gave it to a good friend), it wasn't anything special as a knife specifically but the feel in hand was unlike any other knife. The lock felt great too, something about big chunks of metal, that lock was the oversize framelock of the back-lock world.

It would be cool if Spyderco did another run of the Mini-Manix with a lock that's even chunkier.
