Excuses you tell your partner why you need another spydie

Postby Ted » Thu Dec 05, 2002 1:00 am

Although I've been very lucky that my purchases were never questioned by my wife, there must be some good stories around about when the partner asked one of the questions below (or something similair) <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

- didn't you already have that one in black?

- how many knives do you think you really need?

- are they so bad you need to buy a new one every week?

etc...

I would like to hear the stories...

before the knife store I used, before it moved from Atlantic city to Voorhees NJ. I used to "loose my casino winnings" at that store. And back at the casino(s), my wife would ask me if I won any money. And my answer would be that I won a bunch, and then I lost it all.

And I just don't tell her how I lost it.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I just say that I'm buying them to trade for Q's. Especially when I get packages from Japan, Netherlands, China, etc. At some point she's going to be suspiscious. I guess I need more Q's <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

My mother is one of those ppl...

I just ask her about her shoe collection... she actually has 45pair, including 8 pair of white... 8 pair of highheels...

Why do they need that many? I mave a pair of deer-leather moccassins(I wear around the house), my work boots, my army boots(jungle boot style), and a pair of sandles around somewhere.

I only have a rotation of about 15knives...

And shepherds we shall be, for thee my lord for thee. Power hath decended forth from thy hand so our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. And we shall flow a river forth to thee and teaming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, Et Filii, Et Spiritus Sancti.

Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

My wife doesn't ask. She just gives me funny looks when a new knife package arrives.

I get funny looks from my wife when the next little box arrives too. Generally, I think she's very understanding (probably thinks I'm crazy). My secret backup line is... how many pair of earrings do YOU need!!

My strategy is simple - not saying anything. I'd just place the knife among the others. There are quite a few of them, so she will never notice the new one <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

The trick here is to pick a spouse that has the same interests as you do.

I have lots and lots of knives- he has lots and lots of knives. All of which end up in the same case for both of us to use and enjoy.

Neither of us will spend several hundred dollars on any purchase without first talking it over with the other but 99% of the time we end up buying what we're interested in. We do that often enough and we have to start angling for an invite to dinner at the in-laws to keep from going hungry...LOL

Yup the De Paul method here too.

However..... She knows

And I know she knows

And she knows I know she knows...

I am just really lucky to have a lady who loves me so much <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
