UK Penknife sprints

Re: UK Penknife sprints
S110v would probably have the best sales. I'd guess the market would respond to it very well.
52100 would be interesting.
Cruwear? I'm not sure that I use a UKPK in a capacity where CruWear would be that valuable, but I live in a jurisdiction where I can carry a different folder for those uses. I just can't see ever picking up a CruWear UKPK instead of my CruWear Manix 2.

Re: UK Penknife sprints
It seems to me like Cruwear might not be the best choice for this type of knife. I don't know, YMMV.
S110V, S90V, M4...any of these would be great, and I would have to get one. 52100 would be interesting as well.

Re: UK Penknife sprints
I'm all for 110V. I'd take Cruwear no problem... if it was still a dark blue handle. 52100 sounds to high maintenance. I know how to care for a knife that's carbon steel, but I'd rather not worry about it.
- best wishes, Jazz.

Re: UK Penknife sprints
I would definitely buy one if it came in M4 or 52100! both of those steels would be a lot of fun to use!

You don't have to worry except you are often around water or live somewhere where climate is damp. I often carry carbon steel knives and never had any issues.Jazz wrote:52100 sounds to high maintenance. I know how to care for a knife that's carbon steel, but I'd rather not worry about it.

Perhaps if someone reading this is also a member of british blades they could create a thread to see what people over there thought. I lurk over there but I don't have an account.

Re: UK Penknife sprints
UKPK in S110V with Midnight Blue handles to match the Manix2 and Native5 LWs would be a winner.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Cruwear or M4 sound very interesting!
I would also take S110V but I'd rather have a tougher steel in such a thin blade.
As long as it is a UKPK and FFG count me in!!

That's a shame.sal wrote:I carry a drop point UK quite a bit.
Sprints are always possible, but if made with exotic handles, the cost becomes high and sales are poor.

I'm glad a got a G10 UKPK and Urban when I could.
I tried the Pingo but parted company with it because of the linerless FRN - just isn't for me.
Re: UK Penknife sprints
Any of the aforementioned steels would be well received
Re: UK Penknife sprints
That's easy Sal and I grab my chance ... in all modesty I like to see UKPK with 52100. Most probably 52100 is nothing for steel snobs and they will loud cry "No", but I think they don't know what they will miss.sal wrote:No problem on my end. I'd like a Cruwear UK, or even 52100. When it comes to steel, I'm easy. Whattayouwant?

Thanks in advance! (Hopefully I'm not too soon)

I just posted a poll so we can get a more accurate picture of which steel people want :)

Both are much tougher than S110V just like almost every steel.Jazz wrote:Which would be tougher than 110V: Cruwear or M4?

Another vote here for 52100, ideal steel for a user and easy to sharpen to a razor edge.Peter1960 wrote:... in all modesty I like to see UKPK with 52100. Most probably 52100 is nothing for steel snobs and they will loud cry "No", but I think they don't know what they will miss.
Re: UK Penknife sprints
52100 would be interesting! I'd rather see effort put on getting the most out of the heat treat in a high apex stability, low carbide steel (be it carbon or stainless) vs. the high carbide monster steels S110V represents.
Re: UK Penknife sprints
S110V and orange FRN please, to go with my Pingo.

Re: UK Penknife sprints
Anything but S110v for me. But the 'tuning fork' spring would be a definite bonus. Talking of springs wasn't there a problem with the springs on prototype UKPKs dishing because of how wear resistant S30v was? I'm guessing S110v will be even harder to prevent that.
