That's an interesting finger ramp.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks pretty sweet. Takes some balls grinding the blade on what some people would consider a collectors piece.

I don't regard a production knife as a collectible.

I personalized it because the hump had became an itch for me.

With what little is actually removed, the whole knife feels balanced and amazingly lighter. The blade's heavy original dramatic cleaver feel is gone from both opening and closing.

I am aware of your mods on the ergo improvements to suit you.

I did mine to suit me.

Some are happy with the way it is and that is also fine. ;)

@2000 grit with beginning of a dirty mirror polish:

Added chamfer at the first bump, removed bur surrounding blade pivot, smoothed out compression lock bar contacts, final mirror polish on selected area surfaces and sharpen:

Interesting mods, and nice pics. I think that I'll stick with the factory satin blade because I would be afraid to ever use it for fear that the mirror finish could end up looking crummy. Still though, it looks very nice as more of a display queen! :)

With any factory finish when dealing with surface damage, problem is difficult to blend back in with the original finish. On the Yojimbo 2 hollow grind, to replicate factory grind finish, you will need to put it back on the grinder having the same diameter/grit.

People are generally sold on the hype that grind, stone wash, bead blast...finishes will blend in and hide wear marks! But for me, those wear marks/blemishes are like magnets to my eyes and impossible to restore!

Initial mirror finish process is timely, with respect to HRC hardness and most makers don't offer the finish due to that fact.

However, subsequent damaged mirror finish can be easily restored without major tooling.

My pocket knives are not all purpose tools, mirror finish last indefinitely in my usage. Each time when I do use the one that had received the personal touch, it is a joy! :)

Victorf, I see you hail from the Aloha State. I was married in Maui (McKenna Surf Beach)
Absolutely loved it, and will certainly be back one day.

Well......a big Aloha and congratulations! Beach wedding is very popular here for some good reasons!

Our other islands have their unique charms as well! :)

VERY nice work there and gotta respect someone with the knowhow and proper tools putting their own touch on their items.
But isn't the above statement a little generalized. It's almost like saying a '68 copo camaro isn't collectable because it came from a production factory. :p

It is my opinion regard as, to each his own and I respect those who treat it as a collectible.

I too like the factory optioned COPO Camaros, but having hard time to keep it factory, if I do own one. Just my nature, love to modify based with a plan to improve.

Such as with my factory optioned Z51 Corvette...

Yojimbo's freshly polished kissing cousin, with custom milled finger tip divots, heat ano'ed, done awhile ago, to enhance my unique Filipino style grip:

Looking at the second picture of Yojimo's cousin, while I am responding to you, I already have an itch to work on the pocket clip, - as a fact, gonna be today's project! ;)

Those are among some of my many hobbies, you questioned, I justified.

Hope I didn't violate any rules by deviating! :o

Aloha!

Very nice catch can there! Is that what you were referring to as homemade? Maybe the polished valve covers as well...
I have the same LSX-R intake. I have a custom red molded one on one of my engines. A mutual friend owns the company who does the injection molding for Comp Cams.
Also have a Hotckis front & rear anti-sway kit on my lowered Silverado. Nice pieces.

No need to justify your modifications, I say go for it and keep it up!!! Love it.
I was just simply commenting on your statement of factory produced items not being collectible.
Going back to Caly.
