Spyderco Military... 7 days later
So... it's been 7 days with the Military.
Yeah, the satin/camo "G.I. Joe color" as someone put it last week, which I personally really like. I think it looks awesome, Your tools, it's what you like, not much else matters lol. I actually really wouldn't mind a PM2 in the same color scheme at some point.
My "first impressions" post a week ago was just that, after a day with it, trying hard as usual to stay away from shiny new toy syndrome. :-)
I've made peace with the clip... it does an excellent job of retraining the knife while not cutting up your pants. While the knife rides really high, you get an excellent 2-finger grip on it. the only downside I've found is in jeans it tends to poke you a in the thigh a bit when sitting.
After a week, you have a pretty good idea how you like something.
The most telling thing in my opinion is this: what's IN your pocket? Look down - what's clipped in the place of honor?
For me, it's not about collecting, not my thing, I just like cool tools.
So unless I'm just testing something new for a couple days, what I'm carrying on any given day is the best I have for that purpose.
The Military hasn't left that spot since I got it.
Short version... It would seem I've found my new favorite knife. I see why everyone who has one speaks so highly of it...
This thing carries ridiculously light and small for its size.
And its ridiculously solid for how it carries.
Not sure what it's gonna take to unseat this one from my pocket lol, but it's gonna have to be pretty **** awesome lol.
Have awesome day!
Dan
P.S. here's that photo again... I like this one.

The Millie is awesome. Has a "Lethal" blade too. It's a bad boy, no doubt.

You'll find some other knives that you'll carry for a while but once the millie has you, you'll keep coming back inspite of a few interludes. :D

I bought my first Military in 1999 and have aquired a few more since then. It was the first knife that actually pushed my G-10 Police out of pocket time for more than a day at a time, truly a do-it-all knife.
It, my police and my Chinook 3 dominate my primary EDC, great knife.

Had two but got rid of both because of the clip being mounted for tip down carry instead of tip up

That's why after 5 years it's still my most carried blade. :spyder:
Going to guess based on cutting tests S90V.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.
Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

With all the exotic supersteel testing you I would have guessed something more?

I like the knife and S30V works so it finds it's way into my pocket most of the time.HarleyXJGuy wrote:Trying to be like me huh? I understand.Ankerson wrote:Standard S30V and Black G10. :)HarleyXJGuy wrote:Curious Mr. Jim what flavor Millie you carry?Ankerson wrote:

I don't have a lot of experience with good knives but I can not honestly notice a difference between my S30V Millie and my CTS-204P Para 2.
Just not hard enough on my knives I guess.

Excited to finally be able to sharpen my knives since my Sharpmaker and CBN rods got here today. Was able to notice a little bit of dullness on the Millie, my first Spydie.
Any suggestions about getting my CE native sharp?

My spyderco military... Years later.
I honestly can't remember when I got this, does anyone remember when the m4 Millie finally was released?
Anyways, it has been by far my most used knife since I've had it, its just perfect when you need a real working knife of decent size. My work has changed, and a smaller knife is often more useful, but the Millie still finds its way into my pocket, more often than not.

^ Don't you hate it when you snap a picture, and then notice a solitary hair in the frame afterward? :)
But seriously, you guys take good photos. Not sure what my problem is.
I've always liked digicam. That's a good-looking knife.
