May your feet be warm and dry and your throat warm with whiskey. A knife in hand or in the sock band.

Excellent picture ! I'm not into forced patina, they are often too "flashy" for me, and your Endela is sporting exactly the kind of patina I like ^^
I like the composition, blue and purple do be nice together :cheap-sunglasses

To be fair, I did force it with some vinegar. It had some blotches of natural Patina and I wanted it more even. Also, intentionally cut some raw meat with it.

I don't think this is a knife I would ever carry. I try to only by knives that will end up in my pocket a lot and use for who knows what. However, I feel really intrigued by this design. It is one of the few designs I have seen that I just want to collect. Now is looks tough as nails and it is a Spyderco, so I have no doubt it would have no problem going to work. But man, I just want to set it on top of my dresser and stare it down before I leave for work. Maybe even just hold it once in the morning to start the day. It looks so cool! This may well be my actual sock drawer knife in the future.

It's weird. I have a problem. Your photography does not help my problem.

Yep it’s always fun once they start to pop up! Excited to see what you harvest. I’ll post anything I harvest this year as well.

Thanks! :cheap-sunglasses Unfortunately I won’t be able to help resolve that problem because I have the same feelings with some knives myself! LOL

I actually had similar feelings about this Phoenix as well. I was always fascinated by the design so I was excited to see Spyderco bring it back for a sprint run. I made sure to buy one new in box and still haven’t carried it because I see the design as a work of art and want to keep it pristine! When I had the opportunity to buy a second, I couldn’t pass it up. I love the ergonomics and how it feels in hand, so I knew I needed one that I could appreciate by using it.

Also, funny that you say you would want to occasionally start the day out by holding the Phoenix. I’ve actually caught myself doing exactly that some mornings when choosing my knife for the day. :grin-squint

My "last day of the old year carry" pic:

Tried to create an angle between the knife and the roof of that building, and to match that angle with the one of the "notch" in the mountain ridge in the background.
Did not really succeed though -the bright sunlight made it hard to see anything on my cheap cellphone screen.

Image
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
