#1

Post by RamZar »

Do the annual Spyderco Catalog & Discontinued List get released the second half of November each year?

From what I gather the 2014 Catalog was released on November 20, 2013 and the 2014 Discontinued List on November 8, 2013. So, I guess we're close to both being released.

Crazy that the new catalog will be here before we see all the knives from last years catalog. Can't wait!

Between the 2014 Catalog, Supplement and Amsterdam there are a few still pending for this year:

  2. Firefly (Japan)
  3. Mike Draper Folder (Japan)
  4. Endura4 Damascus Titanium (Japan)
  5. Schempp Bowie (Taiwan)
  6. Bradley Bowie (Taiwan)
  7. Lil LionSpy (Italy)
  8. Pits (Italy)
  9. Roadie (Italy)

Which knives do you guys think will see the chopping block?

My guesses:

Des Horn
Memory
LionSpy
Equilibrium
Nilakka
Kiwi 3
Blue Nishijin Cricket
Salt I PE

Possibly the Navaja as well.

I believe Sal said the samples they received of the Roc didn't meet their standards, so we probably won't see it this year. I also believe he said the Firefly would be delayed until next year. The Roadie is shipping from the manufacturer to Spyderco and they are just waiting to build enough supply to release it, which should be soon. This wouldn't be the first time a knife in the catalog doesn't make it out until the following year.

I work in aerospace.....Having a new airplane delayed by a mere 12 months wouldn't even make a ripple, so I can understand why Sal and Co want it Right First Time when they ship, regardless of the delay ;)

Yes, well said. I would much rather wait and have it right first time. I guess that is why I like Spyderco knives so much!

Is it too early to start getting excited about the next annual February Amsterdam meet, and Wouter's pictures to get us all drooling about the upcoming models? :)

I didn't even receive the 2014 catalog. I ordered it right when it was released. Totally forgot about it until I saw this thread. Maybe next time.

National knives just posted a discontinued list on Facebook. I'd copy it but phone is being dumb.

Hi Ramzar,

There seems to be a typo on the list you posted; "C144GP Caly 3.5 Black G-10 PlainEdge"

There must be some sort of mistake...
