Any word on the Roc?

#1

Post by petrosil »

Any new word on when the Roc may be available? I know Sal said there were some production problems but I was wondering if there was any idea on when we can finally get our hands on one.

I think it's going to be an excellent knife so I do appreciate that they are taking their time to get it right but waiting is tough!

Hi Petrosil,

Waiting is difficult for us as well. Our schedules are being affected. the last samples received were sub standard so we're still improving. Apologies.

Thanks Sal. It's always better to get something right, not always easy but always worth it. I think the waiting will be rewarded.

When does the 2015 catalog come out? I feel like I was newly into spydies when last years came out? Jan or feb?

It seems weird we don't have all the knives that were on the last catalog yet?

,for you veterans are hey all usually out by the next year or does this seem to happen from time to time?

I'm not as up on this as some here but it seems like the previous year everything in the catalog made it. But this year has a ton of new high end models and those are probably more time consuming to get production dialed in on.

It's been proposed many times and the general consensus is it wouldn't work with Spyderco's current production model. That makes sense being those three models they can hardly currently produce fast enough in Golden without any variation.

Spyderco is a 40-something employee company. As far as I know certain companies with similar models have far more people.

I'm happy to hear at least a little something about the ROC. Been waiting for it to drop a while, I have no problem waiting for it now that I know the last samples weren't the best. It will make it that much sweeter when we have them!

When it is released, I hope it is special.

I don't know, do we want it to be special like the Captain and have it die off quick, or do we want it to be simple and last a little longer?

Amsterdam is coming up soon, so we might see a more recent version of it.

Simple. By the time I get around to buying a knife it's always discontinued.
