Rubicon has dropped!!

Post by RadioactiveSpyder »

The Rubicon is finally here! It's listed as available on the Spyderco website:

http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=903" target="_blank

Haven't seen it at any dealers yet (Howes usually being first). Anyone seen it in the wild yet? The Chubby is also available now too!

Peter Carey showed a shot of one that I think is the Spyderco model on his Instagram account. Looks sick...I'm honestly crazily tempted by it, but not sure which way the price is going to go.

Yowza! That is one drop-dead gorgeous beast. Naturally, the timing of its arrival couldn't have been worse. I may need to pawn my snow blower... :o

I thought this day would never arrive. Now I just have to wait a couple more days for my favorite dealer to get their stock.

I have had my eye on this one for a while. I'm curious about the width of the handle as I've had no experience with scales that aren't flat. How will it carry in the pocket?

S30V? For that much? I don't think so. I could see that MSRP if it used something like S90V/S110V/204P/etc... I don't particularly like recurve blades, either.

No offense to anyone who wants one, just my opinion.

Remember when S30V was awesome, and no one wanted to bother with a knife that WASN'T S30V? (not directed at you, GoldenSpydie, just in general)

True. There's more to cost than steel. We learned this with the Slyz. Even so, I still feel its too pricey for me. And so do others it seems.

The knife has a nice design that would appeal to me. The thing is, who needs a 3.5mm thick blade with only 70mm cutting edge?

I don't. Seriously, spend that much money and get a knife that won't perform better then any of my other spydies in cutting task? (Not speaking about hard use/survival/end of the world context but on the day to day basic cutting chore)
If it's not polished, call it a saw, not an edge!

Clearly we didn't. Either that or it's groundhog day.

I am so excited for both these knives!!! I've got a Domino in the mail to satisfy my wait that I thought was going to be a bit longer. Lots like the Domino may be headed wayside after a little fondling!
