Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
It's beginning to sound like a sprint run SE Millie or para2 might be the way to address this need :D
Hmmm ... a nice neutral color like foliage green might be good.
I think grinding serrations to order would be great as well, but $25 sounds like a bit of a dream at today's prices. I've got a black S30V Millie I'd be strongly tempted to have ground.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I feel kind of bad because I voted no to this poll.
Not because I think it is a bad idea but because I have no idea how to sharpen SE blades. Serrated is so good for certain cutting tasks and any excuse to carry another knife is win for me.

On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.
Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

I have no interest in serrations, really...
But I'll buy one because I'm an addict.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
In my world there is a definite place for SE blades. Would a SE Para work in those situations?
First area that I use SE (or hope that I never need to again) are the rescue blades in my car, in my motorbike topbox and on my diving harness – I personally think sheepfoot blades work better in these potential circumstances (but trauma shears work even better) so I’d not use a SE Para here.
The other areas that I’ve used SE blades extensively are on construction sites and at home. My 1st and 3rd generation SE Delicas have cut carpet, drywall, electrical, conduit and various gauges of irrigation piping. I’ve also used SE blades a lot cleaning up nylon rope that was on diving and water skiing set-ups– all messy and often muddy or wet work. FRN handles on H1 blades might cover my bases better even though the AUS 8 and ATS 55 always survived (but have really ragged teeth) so if I was buying again, given the choice between an SE Para 2 and a Pacific Salt or a Salt 1, I think I’d go with one of the Salts. The flow through design of the Para might ease up the cleaning but I’ve always thought this “feature” was a bit over rated. I’ve never had problems sticking my FRN or G10 knives under the kitchen tap and rinsing them out.
Lastly from a collection standpoint .... I had the opportunity (and the cash) to get a SE Para 1 at the same time as I picked up my recent PE Para 1. Declined at the time and it was still there 6 weeks later when I passed the shop again. Passed then too. I just don’t see the need for more SE in my collection. The 22 SE blades I already have don’t need a Para to keep them company - I’m just not a Para addict.
Having said all of that, variety is the spice of life and with the Para 2 following that exists, I would have thought they would sell, particularly if the scales were a different colour. Maybe not spectacularly and be perpetually out of stock but I would have doubted that Spyderco would sit with stock gathering dust if every fourth or fifth production run were SE. I guess they have done the maths though and come to a different conclusion.

I agree on knives with serrations..
I look at knives with serrations and just can't imagine what I would do with that part of the edge..
It renders the knife near useless for my purposes..
They make it y'all can have it..

I imagine that you use the edge for cutting stuff. Am I wrong on that?Philo Beddoe wrote:I agree on knives with serrations..

Yes, but only if it had H1 steel and yellow G10 handles.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I have a question for sal, is there a real chance of a new SE para 2 or are we discussing about a clear example of wishful thinking?
Thanks for your response and I appologize whether I have been so direct.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
More than one probably. Fulle SE, SE with 1 inch or 3/4 inch PE tip, 1/3-2/3 CE, 50/50 CE. Any configuration would be appreciated. S30V and black G10 are fine as well if it makes production easier.
Any of those might have a chance or moving my Millie CE out of my pocket for yard work. Maybe.

I voted YES but I will go on to say that I would much prefer it's big brother the C-36 Military with a full Spyderedge any day of the week. But if I were to snag a Para2 with one of the newer blade steels in full SE you bet I would grab one to use. Because one of my most favorite Spyderedged blades I've ever worked with is my 440V full Spyderedged NATIVE model. The PARA2 would have a lot of the same ergos and size range that the NATIVE has and I wouldn't hesitate to take on a PARA 2 with teeth.
Yeah we need many more GOLDEN, CO USA Earth made Spyders in full SE. And we need both the Para and the C-36 Military once again available in Spyderedge. It's very interesting in a way because most of my friends and associates that come over to my house and see my Spyders the one that most of them like the very most are my two Para2 models>> it's not even close >> most all of them say that they would like to have a Para2 model more than any Spyder I show them. There is something intriguing about the Para 2 that even appeals to Non-Knife people.

Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I did buy one. Looking for a backup too.
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
I bought one and love it. I love my serrated Dragonfly 2 as well. Serrated edges make a lot of sense in a carry/utility blade and I'm glad Spyderco makes so many serrated variants. Keep em coming!
Re: Poll: would you buy a fully serrated paramilitary 2?
Maybe a PM2 salt in SE H1.
The Caribbean will kind of fill that hole, though the ergos on the Caribbean look more like a D'Allara, so it would be nice to have a Salt option with PM2 ergos.
I don't personally need it...but with the popularity of the PM2, it seems like a rust-proof variant could have a market since people really like the design.
