it is a C08 Harpy
a pretty early one with G-2 steel

Yes, it is. Unfortunately, that also means it has the old one piece combination backspacer and lock spring that's prone to breakage.

That would be covered by Spyderco warranty, if it breaks, correct?

I believe so, but all they could do is replace the knife with a modern VG-10 model, they couldn't repair that classic. If you want one to look at and fondle, that one would be good. If you want one to carry and use, buy a new one.

Thanks Yab, I don't plan on using it. I'm fairly new to the Spyderco so I don't have the background and knowledge database yet to speak intelligently about the different models.
But when I saw this one at a pawn store and the condition it was in, I figured it was a good buy and took a guess it was probably a vintage model.
I need to delve into the different blade steels and dates they were offered.
My three vintage Spydercos are now this Harpy, an early Walker and the skeletonized R.
