Spyderco Sgian Dubh?

#1

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

Is this another one of those exotic items we would add to a wish list but there is no major market for them?

If you could have one, which of the Spyderco steels and handle materials would suit a Spyderco Sgian Dubh Scottish Stocking Dirk/Black Knife, best? VG10 and FRN?

And would it be saber or ffg or what?

I think this would be a great addition to the ethnic line.

I don't think that there would be a market at all...but, if they promised not to put a hole in it, I would take one. M4, slightly hollow ground, with thunderstorm kevlar handles.

I would like to see this added to the Ethnic Line, but with a couple of caveats:

1. Single edge only. Daggers aren't really useful or legal in most places. Plain edge.

2. Keep the weight down. No fancy metal scales or thick spine.

3. Include a traditional, but functional leather sheath. Not a "too pretty to use" museum piece.

Are you talking the present-day ceremonial sgian-dubh (as the one I wear with my kilt) or one of the earlier always-carry never-tell versions? These self-defense versions were hardly standardized, except for their smallness...

I'd love to see it in the ethnic line!

Maybe it could be a modern and true use piece. I'd personally like s30v maybe even a dlc blade to "black" it.
