CPM-3V Sprints?
I think 3V is only available from Spyderco with the Schempp Tuff at the moment. This is an interesting steel that I'd like to see in some other models, perhaps as a sprint or something. The Native, Manix, Paramilitary and Military are a few that come to mind. Some of the Taiwan models might be interesting as well. Any of y'all have a spydie you'd like to see in 3V?

Re: CPM-3V Sprints?
I doubt it would happen, but I would love to see the Schempp Rock in a 3V sprint or perhaps a revival of the most popular of the Hossum models, maybe with a thinner geometry? As for folders I can't say I can think of another model I would like to see in 3V.

Manix XL for the win. Of course the PM2 would sell well, but I think the XL or the Military would be a better platform for 3V.

Re: CPM-3V Sprints?
I'd go for 3V in a Native5, or a Manix2, or a Para2 in an instant. These are the models I like most in my hand and they are models in which various interesting non-Japanese steels have been sprinted.
I'd be less inclined to go for 3V in any other model, new or not. It's not new Spyderco models but new steels that I'm now seeking...
I went for the Southard partly for the flipper but mostly for the 204P. Now that I have a Para2 in 204P, I'd rather not have the Southard, fine knife though it is. I suspect that I would be less interested in 3V in any other model once it appeared in a Manix, Native, or Para.

I agree with the Manix XL. Seems like the perfect knife for some 3V

I thought 3V and CruWear are very close to being the same?
A CruWear Manix and Millie already exists.
Not sure exactly what the additional benefits would be?

I agree. From what I read, 3V is Cruwear with additional toughness. To me, if Cruwear is tough and has higher wear resistance than 3V, I'll take Cruwear over 3V every day of the week.Philo Beddoe wrote:I thought 3V and CruWear are very close to being the same?

The only case where 3V might outperform it is in a chopper like xceptnl said.

That's fine and dandy unless you are like me and missed the CruWear Millie bandwagon.Donut wrote:I agree. From what I read, 3V is Cruwear with additional toughness. Re: CPM-3V Sprints?
According to Crucible, 3V at 58HRC has comparable adhesive wear resistance to Cruwear at 62HRC with nearly three times the impact resistance. At 60 it has moderately better wear resistance with 2.5 times the impact resistance.Donut wrote:I agree. From what I read, 3V is Cruwear with additional toughness. I carry a serrated Robin2 at work, a Cara Cara Rescue 2 in the glove box, and a ZDP Dragonfly or Junior everywhere else. My PM2 sits on a shelf with a small assortment of Kershaws.

Re: CPM-3V Sprints?
Similarity to the current production model didn't stop people from buying the elmax PM2, but it's an interesting point about cruwear.

Re: CPM-3V Sprints?
I like the extra toughness of CPM-3V a whole lot. I have a 6 inch Koster (@ RC 60), and the Tuff.
I haven't used the Tuff much yet, but the Koster has seen some hard knocks on our local dry knotty hardwood without any drama whatsoever. Not a mark on the edge after chopping open this rock-hard coconut:
I would probably be tempted to get any 3.5 inch+ folder in 3V with a compression type lock like a PM2 or Manix, or even a smaller fixed blade.

Re: CPM-3V Sprints?
Then put just a little bit of effort into it and the Cruwear Millie is easy to find..it was a 1200 piece run and doesn't sell for much more than they did when they first came out.HarleyXJGuy wrote:That's fine and dandy unless you are like me and missed the CruWear Millie bandwagon.Donut wrote:I agree.
