Spyderco's with animal names...

#1

Post by DutchBlades »

From day 1 of getting into Spyderco knives I noticed that there are a whole heap of them with animal names. I do really like this concept since allot of the knives closely resemble the specified animal (Dodo, Kiwi, Cricket, etc.). So, I was wondering, what Spydies have animal names? (not counting in any Byrd models or ones with more than an animal name like superhawk and lionspy) I could come up with:

Bug
Honeybee
Grasshopper
Ladybug
Cricket
Kiwi
Mule
Impala
Volpe
Dodo
Dragonfly
Rock Lobster
Meerkat
Cat
(Harpy)
(Phoenix)

There has to be some that I forgot, newer models or don't even know of...
A tiger has claws.
A wolf has teeth.
An eagle has talons.
We, have Spyderco.

Well, the Yojimbo 2 is named after a person, which is a mammal, which is an animal, and the knife performs like an animal...does that count? :D

Yeah, Ocelot! Bad part is I looked at the Ocelot a week ago in my 2006 Product Guide and didn't even come up when I was thinking about names :p
And yes, even though the guides I have are pretty outdated, I still like to look at them and read them every now and then :D

Should we count the collaboration knives that are named after their creators - who are, I presume, animals?

- Goddard Senior, Junior, Baby, etc.
- Terzuola Senior and Junior
- Gayle Bradley
- Walker

Etc...
