CLR On Caly 3.5 Super Blue
The severity of the results were unexpected.. But after some pondering, I've decided I like it. Gave it sort of a damascus look..
Why would I use CLR in the first place, you ask?
Well, I cut some cheese, wiped the knife down with a dry towel, and let it set for a few hours.
Upon my return, there was rust all over the blade.. DOH! I had forgotten Super Blue isn't SS..
I tried all sorts of products: PB Blaster, some type of 'Rust Remover' at work, Chisel Paint Stripper.. Nothing phased the rust..
Alas, I tried CLR knowing that it says right on the jug "may darken metal".. Well it Darkened it, lol.. But the rust is gone!
You can still see where it was, but it's not nearly as noticeable..
I tried to post pictures from both my PC and PhotoBucket, but things must have changed round these parts, as every attempt is met with an error.. Not sure how to proceed.

Just paste some of the link text they give you associated with the picture.
If they give you one that starts with [img] that will show up if you paste it into a message.
If they give you a direct link one, you can put [img] and [ /img] (without a space) around it and it will show up.

I forgot to delete all the extra stuff! It's been awhile since posting on forums. Thanks for jogging my memory, Donut!Donut wrote:Just paste some of the link text they give you associated with the picture.

It looks much darker than the pics, but I like it! Once I poured all those chemicals on it, it's become my work knife.. No more cheese. lolHolland wrote:That looks awesome! It will lighten in time as well. SB seems to change everyday you use it
Ya, I put some nano oil on the blade and everything in the pivot.. Once a knife becomes a 'work knife', I don't worry about looks. Filthy is the norm.MatthewSB wrote:I think it looks awesome.
I would coat it with vegetable oil so it doesn't pit, and keep using it.
I REALLY wish it wasn't pinned.. Hard to keep a folder clean without tearing it down..
