Rookie how does smoothing out that edge on the detent effect the detent action? I imagine you could inertia open it much easier now, but does it still close tight enough to stay shut when you want it to?

Makes no difference to the blade being kept closed, just eases & smooths the initial blade deployment past the shoulder.
