Any Para2 in XHP coming up?

#1

Post by salimoneus »

Seems like this metal is gaining in popularity quickly (understandably so), and I'm hoping a regular production version of the Para2 will be available with CTS-XHP in the near future. So far all I've found are sprint releases. Any luck on this?

Doubtful since there was already the orange exclusive from cutlery shoppe in cts-xhp. Not that I have any inside info but I think we are more likely to see a regular production PM2 in S110V before cts-xhp.

The orange one from Cutlery Shoppe was an exclusive meaning they can reorder another batch whenever they want. Frankly, for most CPM-S30v is a direct comparison to CTS-XHP. It's not as similar in formula, like M390 to 204p, but in the same ballpark of features.

I prefer xhp over s30v personally and xhp may even be cheaper, I can't remember offhand but it's quite inexpensive. If XHP proves itself to be issue free, you may see it take over s30v as the standard offering. I EDC the techno and it takes a great edge plus holds it quite well. It's supposed to be easy to work with and finish plus it is quite stainless.

XHP has proven to have greater edge stability than S30V in my usage. That means a lot to me. It also seems to hold its razor edge longer which I like. XHP seems to be getting used a lot in Taichung. I would guess that the Para2 might end up with S35VN as the normal steel soon. Maybe we will see a lightweight Para 2 S110V like the Manix 2.

The Orange Paras have a pretty crazy street price. I would personally love to see a limited production (that could be turned into regular production) or sprint run with different scale color come out so more of them can be turned into users.

I would like to see a Jade polished scale version.

I agree, and would be totally psyched to see the s110v line expand to include the PM2.

S30v is so yesterday, it should be replaced with XHP wherever possible :)

I concur, I'd snag an M4 Para2 in a heartbeat if one became available. I love the Gayle Bradley but it's quite beefy and weighty.

I'd like to see an M4, or a Cruwear, or an S110V (in that order) Para2 but a re-release of the XHP Cutlery Shoppe exclusive at the original price would not get past me a second time.

That's another one that has been talked about for years and we haven't heard anything about yet.

I can understand why you'd want Cruwear over S110v as it has different strengths, but M4 I can't understand. S110V should have better edge retention and it's um...stainless. Personally, I'd like to see S110V on everything because it's great stuff.
