Moonglow Manix 2

#1

Post by DutchBlades »

I was in a serious doubt between the Para2 and the Manix2 XL.
The Manix 2 XL would be a little much in the pocket next to a Xperia Z.
However, I preferred the Para2 over the regular Manix2.

Now I've come across another video on the Manix2 Moonglow sprint edition from the EDC forums.
This knife I just plain awesome...
If anyone out there knows someone selling it for a fair price,
let me know :D :D :D

Try not to buy/sell/trade on the Spyderco forums (at least publicly).

Don't forget there was a Native 5 sprint also in Moonglow for the same forum. I have one of those finally, took me ages to track one down but totally worth it. Good luck and happy hunting! :D

That is a cool novelty, to be sure. But I'm confident that for that novelty, people will be looking for a ridiculous price.
I wish that Spyderco would just sell a kit with replacement scales that we could buy from them for a reasonable price.

Heh. Well, time will tell whether he gets that price for it or people just pass it by because he's being greedy.

Today I saw a listing for one of the old Titanium case Zippo lighters, new-old-stock and advertised as "never struck," but it had scratches and was listed in "good shape" -- for SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. (I don't remember for sure but I think they sold for no more than $70 back around 2003.) What's needed is for people to not be willing to pay exorbitant prices for these things. This makes me wonder whether the market for Atwood knives and key tools is still as freakish as it was a few years ago when I was interested. ...

Lol, that's the spirit! They are MUCH nicer with the scales you can't see the liners through. ;)

They are! I still like the GEN 2 ones...
But they just look cheaper and less solid because of the scales :(
And I think the GEN 1's have a brighter glow.

(Too bad they're harder to come by and generally more expensive :mad :)

I'm not sure which I like better they both are unique and look so cool. I'll have to go dig both of mine out and see if the Gen 2 looks cheaper :D ...I can assure you it is no less solid than the Gen 1

I have no doubt it's just as solid :)
It just looks less beefy or something.

Go dig em out and sell the GEN 1 to me :D :P

I have the Native, and I have never seen glow in the dark material glow as bright as that thing. If you ever do not know where your knife is, turn off the lights and there it is. :)

I have 2 of the moonglow Manix 2's, and 3 of the moonglow Native 5's. They are terrific! (I'm not selling mine though :) )

The material is very smooth though, so not as much traction in your hand as G10 would give you. I suspect it might chip if dropped on concrete, I don't want to test that on mine :) .

The glow lasts quite a long time. I like to use mine as a night-light when camping, just charge it with a flashlight before I go to bed, the glow diminishes but is still visible hours later.
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)

I bet a Para 2 sprint in Moonglow and something fancy like M4 would sell out real quick, just a thought. :spyder:  :spyder:

I bet any Spyderco Sprint with the like metal (s90v,s110v,k390 etc) would sell out quick. Not wanting to hijack this thread, but at the same time not wanting to start a new one, does anyone have an idea when the Military K390 will go into the works?

No, but that would be a pretty awesome knife to have...

I am sorry that I am not willing to part with either of my manix moonglows, but if I change my mind someday I'll keep you in mind.

Again, where have you read that this knife has even been mentioned, aside from people here wishing for it? Have you seen Sal or anyone (that matters) confirm that it'll ever happen? All I remember is a thread talking about wanting it, and most people voted for the Military if Spyderco were going to make this steel into a folder, but I still haven't seen any confirmation.

I almost asked the same last night - I don't either, but I was hoping it was (my) bad memory. :spyder: It would be awesome...
