the forgotten Endura
Specifically the saber ground one. There seems to be many tasks this model could handle that the FFG might wilt under. Who is still rocking one? Would a new color besides black breath some life back into the saber? The saber D4 seems to get more run because the FFG D4 is so thin that it bothers some folks, but the FFG E4 seems thick enough to put the saber E4 on the back burner.
For the number of FFG ones out there in varied hands you don't hear much about chipping or snapped tips. Not as nearly as much as one would think. While the saber has merit and always will, methinks more people favor the geometry and ease of sharpening for the thinner sibling.
Of the sabers I really liked my Wave D4. The spear'ish point had nice lines and a great tip compared to the more drop-point version.
I think changing to a deep hollow grind would reinvent the knife. You could maintain tip thickness and shave some steel behind the edge. 2 cents, etc.

My Endura 4 with the saber grind was my first Spyderco knife ever.
The collection has grown... allot... But this knife will always get pocket time.
It might be only two days a month, but it gets used and sharpened just like the others.
In fact, 99% of my knives see less or zero pocket time :p
So the Endura keeps on being an awesome knife and tool :spyder:
SS version, still love it.

Thicker close to the edge, so less change of chipping.TomAiello wrote:I actually went out and specifically found a couple saber grinds for hard use "beater" knives.

Totally know what you mean.TheFactor wrote:Something about the Finesse, the way they slice and sexiness of a FFG has me hooked :p :D
They slice better and with more control.
And no matter how sharp your saber is,
a FFG will always seem sharper due to a smaller amount of drag and resistance whilst cutting.

The Endura is my favorite spyderco my first one was a black saber grind that I cherish. I like saber grinds on Enduras and like FFG on Delicas they seem more attractive for its size.

took a while to get here but, this was what I was driving at...saber sprint!TomAiello wrote:Honestly, saber grind is about toughness for me, and I like the VG-10 because it's easy to maintain and not too expensive.
I think the only sprint endura I'd want saber ground rather than FFG would be CPM 3V. Super tough steel in a strong grind would really make a great Endura.
