Which 2014 models have you set your sights on?

#1

Post by 3rdGenRigger »

This year I have fewer on my radar than last year (The bulk of my collection was purchased throughout 2013). As of right now I plan to acquire the following through 2014, though I can definitely swing for a few more if anything unexpected comes along (Like the Green ParaMilitary 2 in CTS-204P that's currently en route). The Worker is expected in June, and the Kiwi 4 in August, at least according to KnifeCenter's website. I don't know how long we'll have to wait for the Endura, but I'm acquiring that one as a pair to my Titanium Damascus Delica because I like that one much more than I anticipated, and I may order one of the Nishijin handled Damascus Stretch's as well if I can swing it, though I'm on the fence regarding that. I might also acquire the stepped Titanium Chaparral if I don't care for the 4th iteration. What has me really curious is when the Battlestation is expected to come out...I'll be ordering 2 (One for a friend who really liked the look of it)...has there been a mention of timeframe for the Battlestation that I haven't stumbled across yet? I'm assuming the Frontier and Endura will be later in the year as they're not listed on any retailers websites yet. Anyhow...which models are you after this year?

- Titanium Damascus Endura
- Kiwi 4
- Battlestation
- Worker
- Frontier
- Stepped Titanium Chaparral (Maybe)
- Nishijin Damascus Stretch (Maybe)

I was looking forward to the Frontier, and I just saw a video of the prototype. I was a bit disappointed in the aesthetics. Looks like it's trying to be too many things (ergonomic, modern, and a classic bowie). The Battlestation looks promising.

I feel the opposite about the Frontier...I'm a big fan of the twill patterned carbon fiber (Sold my Chaparral 1 recently, but I'll acquire a newer one in CTS-XHP before too long), and I really like the contrast between the brass bolsters and carbon fiber on the handles. I personally like the idea of a modern interpretation and twist with some classic style, though I seem to be a fair bit more old fashioned in my tastes than most of my friends and colleagues of similar age (I'm 26). I won't know for sure though until I have one in my hand...I may change my mind then, but I think it looks very promising having only seen photos of it.

I've been enjoying my Tusk quite a bit. A niche knife, to be sure... But a darned good one!

I'm looking forward to my SuperBlue Dfly and MBug when they hit the street.

Slysz Bowie for sure. I liked the Frontier at first, but it "grew off" me if that makes sense. I'm a little scared that we'll see an XL sprint/exclusive as well this year.

My sig says it all. Not mentioned are the surprise sprints throughout the year of my favorite staple models.
