Big + small knives combo

#1

Post by hom76 »

If you are going to carry 2 folding knives only (1 bigger one and 1 smaller one), what would be your ideal combo?

My choice: Domino + Air

I like my ladybug chaparral combo. But i decided today to go back to the bug on the keychain instead of the LB, so i guess it will be chaparral/dragonfly with the bug

For me, it's a Stretch and a Kiwi most days. If I have to go to Greenville, where there's a 3" blade limit, it's usually a CF Chaparral and a Kiwi.

I used to carry this combo daily and sometimes swapped out the Ladybug with a SE H1 hawkbill version. Great combo.

I almost always carry a second knife clipped to a Dacron cord around my neck. More often than not I carry my Tasman salt there. I find that if I'm going to carry a second knife, I like to have a blade that will do a better job at certain cutting tasks than my main knife. A hawkbill fills that role well for me. I don't have one, but i looked at the lil matriarch recently and I think it would be a great backup knife too. If they made that one in a "salt" version I would buy one for sure.

Currently I am hopelessly in love with the Ladybug Hawkbill Salt and Para 2 - Green 204P combo. That could change, but I am going to try this combo for at least a few weeks. I will still rotate in a third knife daily though.

I have been carrying a Delica along with my primary folder as a test. I might be able to carry a Dragonfly instead but I'm afraid it would turn out to be too small. Right now the primary folder would be a PM2, Military, Vallotton or Manix 2.
