Just got my Kiwi! Great job Spyderco!

I've recently become interested in the knife style I grew up seeing my father carry (Buck, Case). I tried carrying a Buck but I just missed my spydies. The Kiwi is exactly what I had been looking for.

I got via the brown truck on Monday and it hasn't left my pocket since. I love the jigged bone in-lay (this was a major selling point). The finger grooves are great. Among my spydies this one is the sharpest I've seen coming out of the box. Great job Spyderco!

Now all I have to do is find some small cord to fix a lanyard.

Thanks,

I just got mine, and it is a beauty! The fit and finish rivals some customs, and it's a perfect addition to any gent's (or lady's) daily cargo.

The Kiwi is definitely one of the great small blade designs, factory or custom. Very nice workmanship.

Congratulations to Sal and all of Spyderco on a real winner.

My Kiwi is in my pocket for the first day. It is a great little knife with fine fit and finish. I would like to have had a soft leather carry pouch to keep it in to prevent it from being scratched up while in your pocket. I have had to move my change over to the other pocket. That little blade came scapel sharp. You really wouldn't want this one to close on a finger by mistake. It would be akin to placing your finger in a tiny Guillotine.

thanx for the kind words and support.

We're studying the "small carry pouch" concept at this time. Any ideas or opinions?

Well Sal, as a Louisiana boy, I surely would like a pouch made of Alligator. It would be great to offer several leater options of various types of leather at different prices. Calf, deer, ostrich, eel and don't forget that old swamp lizard!

Considering the name, Ostrich would be the best matching. As far as cost, pigskin would be the cheapest from what I have read.
Chamois is what I envision this knive being protected by.

Knife Knut on a shoestring budget.

GREAT JOB ON THE "Kiwi"; Thing is, I'd need a "concealed weapons permit" to carry the **** thing Just like my "Spydercard" it'll end up in the collection, with the SE cricket "holding the line"

Sal - regarding a leather case - there are two companies that presently provide leather slip cases that I am aware of, William Henry and Chris Reeve. The one sold by Chris Reeve is buttery soft, larger that the knife by far and stabilizes the carry in the pocket. The one from William Henry is very stiff, just barely larger than the knife, and IMO primarily serves to make for a bulky thing in your pocket. The clip case that WH makes is an interesting idea, but if I wanted a clip showing, I would just get a knife with a clip.

The quality of the CRK slip case is IMHO, far better and available at the same cost.

I agree with Scolby, the Chris Reeve Umfaan pouch is an ideal size and shape for the Kiwi, as it tends to spread the profile out in the pocket and makes it far less noticable even in very light trousers.

I'd say part of the Kiwi's charm is it's simply stated quality, so I think the pouch should match.

I look forward to getting. Is it possible that they can come with a pocket clip for easier carry?
