I finally have a new orange H1 Spyderhawk on the way thanks to a fellow forumite! I sold my original one in one of my many knife purges and have regretted it since. Of all of the many knives I have sold this was probably in the top 3 of regrets and one of only a handful that I have re-purchased later on. Glad to have the opportunity to have this one back, and I hope to see the Spyderhawk re-enter the production lineup as an LC200N SE Spyderhawk 2 with the new Pac Salt 2 handle!

A Raffir Noble Chaparral is on the way. I'm trying to not spend all of of that stimulus check on knives, but it's a losing battle...

I'd be in the same boat if it weren't for things that go bang :p

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if I decide on a second Chief within a week

Things that go bang are too expensive these days, I switched over to buying blades for a while until the market calms down a bit.

Speaking of, I have a Para 3 LW in SPY27 on the way, should be here on Wednesday. I guess that's my 6th Spyderco in 5 months.... Probably need to slow down a bit.

Nice choice! Edge holding for months with that sized blade in K390.

I have another Rex Chief coming. I like it that much.

Well, this knife could be a tough competitior for my Enduras, even my beloved HAP40 Endura...
I still slightly prefer FRN with liners over G10 without, but other than that... should I ever get to actually handle a Chief (and in REX45, which I really like) this would most likely result in costing me money...

Do you have any first impressions on the REX45 yet?
And do you mostly not use the choil on the Chief too?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I've been using the choil more frequently for extra leverage. Its just as comfortable for me as not being choked up due to no thumb ramp, so I'm taking advantage of it.

Rex45 has been holding an edge well. It came ground thinner from the factory than most spydies, but in terms of the edge bevel and overall geometry. I've been using it for everything around the house like breaking down large boxes, food prep, etc. It still shaves but has lost maybe 5% sharpness so far.

I'm looking forward to sharpening it, because I hear it responds very well for how high the RC is.

Thanks! :)

That´s actually an advantage of "no ramp" I never really considered - people who put their finger on the spine (most do with Spydercos I guess) and not on the side of the blade (like i do most of the times) actually can use the choil in a more similar way and feel than holding the knife on the actual handle.

And in my experience having two (or even more) really good grip options is of advantage in really prolongued use - certainly rare with folders, but IF one uses a folder constantly over a long period of time, having the option to change from one good grip to a second equally good grip after some time has its advantages comfortwise (or can even prevent hot spots)

I am from Europe, but isn´t this what your stimulus checks are there for anyway? To kickstart the economy a bit? ;)
