New Spyderco Blade Material (Theory only for now!)

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

We know from scientific testing that spider silk is extremely strong and lightweight, and can be used for composites and more. I propose a theoretical material called "Spyder Silk Steel". This would require the production of synthetic spider silk, and then, somehow, perhaps at the molecular level, the spider silk material is integrated with a form of steel, to make "Spyder Steel". This can also be added to a new generation of FRN handle materials, to strengthen and enhance them.

This technology (fibre reinforcement) is actually used in ceramics because while they are very hard/strong they can be brittle, hence ceramic composites. It is also used in concrete, generally not spider silks, but man made fibres.

As a bit of urban myth, the guy that made (makes?) that bear suit claimed to use spider silk in many of his "inventions" along with a very strange brew of materials.

Sorry but anyone who uses spider silk (organic or synthetic) is going to lose me as a customer. The properties of this magic material would never compensate for the incurable "heebie jeebies".

Some sort of graphene steel material

And some crazy high static friction material for the handle
