Heads up, PM2 sprint C81CFPE2

#1

Post by FCM415 »

Folks, I received notification from Howes regarding a PM2 sprint  . 300 pieces though  I better get one somehow :D

We do not yet know the handle material/color and how the composite will be. I've requested a CPM154 blade PM2 before, I really like it but being a composite with S90v, I'm assuming one of these FINE steels won't be in the business end of the blade.

Excitement level: Very high

Here's the info.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Limited edition Sprint Run C81CFPE2 limited to 300 pieces

The C81CFPE2, ParaMilitary2 features composite steel featuring CPM 154 and CPM s90V. Enclosed with each knife you will find a letter with additional infromation regarding the product and steel. We do have plans to produce additional products with this steel, just not in the ParaMilitary2 configuration.

It says sprint so I don't think so. Spyderco may consider it a very special piece considering the low number. Also exclusives have a minimum order of either 600 or 800 pieces. It will be over 300 after the CC's are accounted for.

S90V clad in CPM154 was a new product discussed on these boards last year.

That's right, thanks. That thread got weird fast, no wonder I forgot about it.

So Howe's announced this new product but no timeline about when an order can be placed?

I must say I LOVE that spyderco goes to such lengths to give us new steels to try and such exciting sprints especially in the beloved PM2, but with 300 pieces only this sounds like the recipe for frustration. I do want one as much as the next afi, but with only 300 to be released in the wild I am not so confident I will actually get one. I try to stay on top of the game, but I am not a pro here and missed out on the green one last time around and just barely got in on the MT18. Not complaining...although it sure sounds like it...just tryin not to get my hopes up too high yet but this sounds pretty awesome!

If Howe's handles this like past models, this will be out relatively soon. They are almost always the first to put a new product up when they know they will be getting the stock soon.

I saw that email from Howe's too. I am a little disappointed that the run is only 300 pieces, between the handle being CF (guessing from the stock number C81CFPE2) and having S90V, demand is sure to be astronomical, unless the price is waaaay up there. It *does* say they are planning on making additional knives with this steel, just not PM2's. I love CF, so I definitely hope to get one of these.
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)

This is bound to be a feeding frenzy with only 300 pieces. Sure hope I can secure one but I have a feeling that is going to be difficult to say the least!

Hmm...additional Spyderco products? I'd take a Military in this way way over a PM2...I love S90V, and I love CPM154...so I'd really like to get something with this combo.

You guys almost just had one less competitor for one of these because I think I had a small heart attack, but I'm back and I'm psyched, let's do this people! If we forumites all work together, maybe we can limit these going into hands of flippers.

Well if it is the fluted, and with the low number there will be many sad members here. This must be a very special release for them for it to be that low. Always grateful for what they are able to produce but 300 leaves little room and the few with certain advantages like being connected to dealers can make good money from this.
