What's your every day Bert & Ernie combo?

#1

Post by hoimin »

For those that EDC multiple knives, what's your go-to Spyderco Bert & Ernie combo?

I work in an office environment, so there is frequent mail/package opening where an Ernie (short, sheeple-friendly) more than suffices for 95% of knife use (which is like <5% of the day). But for the occasional food prep and box-breakdown, I'd like something longer (Bert) to accompany what I carry.

I only have a Techno (which is wonderful), but I'm aiming to pair it with its Taichung cousin, the Southard Flipper (when I land one).

Bert is my Stretch and Ernie was my Manbug. But I replaced my Manbug/LM Squirt PS4 combo with a Juice S2. So now I guess Ernie is the blade on the Juice.

Today, and for the past few weeks, my M4 Air and my M4 Manix2.

Funny, I also saw the Techno and Southard Folder as a pairing and got them about the same time because I saw them this way.

The Techno and Southard are my current EDC tandem. They complement each other nicely.

Millie in my waistband and a se tasman salt on a cord around my neck. Very versatile combo. The tasman makes for a pretty mean little Ernie! ;)

I really like my glass fiber Cricket and regularly carry it with either a SB Endura or SB Caly 3.5.

For me, the standard pairs are Domino/Pingo, 204P PM2/G10 Dragonfly, Caly 3.5/G10 Manbug, and Cruwear Millie/Techno. And my God, how I love them so. :D

I guess my burt and ernie would be H1 SE spyderhawk and Szabo folder. I usually carry a different knife in my rfp. Right now its the S110V forum native. My most carried knife is that spyderhawk though. No matter what other knife i carry the hawk is always in my left back pocket.

I went out with two yesterday, Bert, serrated Pac Salt, Ernie, ZDP Dfly.

When I go two, I always pair a bigger blade with a ZDP Dfly. It's too perfect to rotate it with other small blades. I used to have an Air also, why I sold it I don't know. I do miss it and liked it as much.

They change pretty frequently but today Bert was the Tuff and Ernie the Yojimbo2.
