I wonder what color it will be and what it will be laminated with.

Colour wise maybe white then people can rit dye them theirselves?
Personally I love orange but as there's already a orange Endura I'd like to see a new colour or white..

How about something in a dark orange? Burnt umber. Kind of a rust color.

Burnt orange is what I said in the bombshell thread. Great minds think alike.

I've been testing an Endura with a HAP40 blade (laminated) for a few days. We'll CATRA test tomorrow. Pretty awesome stuff.

Sal, can you get the hardness that sets the steel apart when it's laminated? I know those Cobalt HSS's need some pretty high temps and have wondered how it would work out.

BTW, I'm an Endura guy since 92 so this really sounds good to me.

Thank you.

We think we'd like to do a sprint of the entire Endura/Stretch/Delica...line like we did with the SuperBlue. It does get very sharp and tested well in the lab for edge retention. (CATRA) We're working on a color for the run.

One more vote here! That would be a great color.

Please consider charcoal/graphite grey. Slate greyish blue? The best options deserving of this steel release imo. Im not suggesting grey that is anything close to the VG10 and SB versions by the way.

Just a thought, Sal mentioned he might do a Delica sprint in smurf blue G-10, how about using the HAP 40 in the same run?

A lot votes for burnt orange... The question for Spyderco becomes, what if HAP40 becomes a staple like ZDp189? Will burnt orange be for everyone? Im not sure that it will work for the masses if HAP40 becomes desirable as a steel option. It may work if it eventually gets changed to another color, kind of like what happened to the powder blue-BRG ZDP's.

Really though, graphite grey maybe with a bluish tint similar to the Wave Delica Endura would be my vote.

Is this HAP40 a stainless steel? Tool steel?

Not sure what you are envisioning but I'm thinking of burnt orange as a pretty neutral color. Kind of an earthy brownish orange. I don't think it would be something that would put folks off.

I would like a color besides another shade of grey. After a copper or burnt orange color my next choice would be a burgundy, plum or black cherry type of color. I would still rather see a the burnt orange. It does seem as though the burnt orange color has gotten some positive responses. We shall see. :-)
