Got a screw loose.

I was lucky enough to notice that the pivot screw on my Leafstorm was coming loose just before it had backed all the way out. Is it alright to put a little purple or blue thread-locker on the screw to keep this from happening again? I haven't taken any of my knives apart so I'm not familiar with the usual procedure for reassembly.

Yup.

Make sure you get it adjusted to where you like it, then let it cure overnight (sometimes I set mine on top of a lamp, for a little warmth...).

Edited to add...a little goes a long way! Try not to get any in the pivot mechanism... a toothpick helps here...

Clear finger nail polish works very well if you don't have any Loctite available. Some people actually prefer it.

Gonna have to try that - assuming if you needed to take out the screw again in the future, the loctite/nail varnish would crack when you applied pressure and unscrewed it?

Yep. Just don't use red loctite.

Purple (Loctite's 222) is intended for fasteners under 1/4 inch. That said, I only have blue at the house and its been alright on my clip and pivot screws so far, just be careful as always when undoing. Also make sure the threads are clean as the thread locker requires a good bonding surface and lack of oxygen to cure properly.

Green is a penetrating product, no disassembly required...nor permitted. I have broken tools and fasteners on green. Black is advertised as essentially permanent.

Thanks for all of the input everyone. I am quite accustomed to using all of the suggested methods with some of the screws on my .22 pistols, and didn't think this would be much different. The one difference that I did notice, is that pink nail polish is always recommended by the pistol crowd. Yup, has to be pink. :D

No, you have it all wrong. It has to be tactical - you need black! :D (Finger nail polish - *NOT* Loctite, that would not be a joke at all... ...)
