Most user friendly knife

#1

Post by fredswartz »

Dialex Junior just seems to fit my hand perfectly and does all the right things.
Just my take on a great design. As a skinner, the Junior is right up there with the Wegners. For some reason I have 2 Adventuras, different knives but great designs.
Love Dialex's knives.

Native5 and C83 Persian fit into my hand like a glove. Calys, ATR and Dodo also fit very well.

The Dodo was the best feeling knife that I have ever put in my hand. I really regret trading mine... But I couldnt find a sue for it sadly.

ZDP-189 Caly Jr: Spyderco's Next To Perfect Folder

#5

Post by JD Spydo »

For me to list my most "user friendly" Spyderco knife would almost take me an hour to list them all. I haven't owned many Spyderco blades that I didn't think were not funtional or easy to use.

If I had to make one suggestion it would probably be my old Burgundy handled, ZDP-189 Caly Jr. I used that blade for probably more EDC type uses than just about any other Spyderco model I can think of. Next to that one would probably be my Sprint model C-60, G-10 handled Ayoob model. For a full sized folder it's just about as ideal as any blade I've ever used period.

Now if I go into the "Specialty" blades that Spyderco has produced I would have to give thumbs up to the FB05 Temperance 1 model in PE & SE both. I use my Temp 1 model almost on a daily basis as well as my 2 user Catcherman models.

There are just so many great models it just depends on what you're using it for. But with Spyderco's huge assortment of different designed type models you would be hard pressed not to find something close to perfect for the job at hand.
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!

The C52's are great knives and I EDC'd a gray one for years.
I have all 9 variations and the C52P was the hardest to find. I got the
C52 BMS Experimental from BH49.

Caly Jr.s by a long margin. Among the greatest pocket knives of all time.

My 13-year-old son has really taken a shining to the Dialex Jr. He loves the way it fits into this hands. It is his go-to camping/hiking/Scouting knife. This is what Dialex envisioned when he designed this knife!

So jealous of these. The Caly Jr. was my pick as well. I prefer the fish-scales to the smooth micarta.

Probably I am the only person, who is not too crazy about Calypso Jr. I used to have two of them. I love my Caly3 and find it much more esthetically pleasing and better fit into my hand than Calypso Jr.. I also prefer low riding wire clip, liners and tip up carry. And will take G10 over FRN.

All fair points, im sure if the Caly jr was still in production i wouldnt want one as bad haha. But i prefer FRN to G10 for knives that size

I may have to pick up a Junior to try out before they're all gone.

For me, right now, it's still the Manix 2. The ergonomics (including the open/close/lock action) just seem so natural to me.

Most user friendly, to me, is the Delica because it's small enough for most anyone and easily opens, locks in place, and unlocks as needed. Some knives are too small and get lost in pockets or don't stay clipped properly while others are too big. The delica, for most, is a good middle ground between all features people want.

My personal favorite is the Techno, though because, while small, it really fits into my hand well and I can use more quickly while working on something than any other knife. It comes out, opens quickly, cuts really well, folds up and goes on my pants super fast thanks to the wire pocket clip. Unfortunately, that clip has led to the knife being knocked out of my pocket a few times, though...so the Delica is a safer choice.

As much as I love my Calypso jrs, but from a pure ergonomic point of view I'd rather prefer this little guy
