Well, I've fallen down the Spydey Hole

#1

Post by inked308 »

Hello- new guy here. It all started about 3 months ago, when I got my Tenacious and instantly fell in love with it. Then I started thinking, "you know, it could be just a bit smaller, and lighter too". So onto the internet I go to see what other Spyderco models are out there, and end up here. Next thing I know it's around 3 am and I'm deep into metallurgy, blade grinds and locking mechanisms. So anyway, the Delica 4 (gray) showed up a week ago, and I love it- it's perfect! (but you know, a little bit bigger version would be nice to have too... Endura!) Then my girlfriend uses the Delica and loves it- ("but does it come in a little bit smaller version?") So anyway, the Dragonfly 2 (pink, of course) should be here tomorrow or the next day, and I'm gonna give it to her for Valentines Day. Oh, and I'm now lusting for a PM2. As well as the full sized Millie. And I love the shape of the Native's blade. I'm currently watching 5-6 Spydies on eBay.
God, what have I done to myself....? :-)

Don't start looking for discontinued Spydercos. It's maddening.

Welcome to the Forum.
I can understand your love for Spyderholes. IMHO this is the best opening system.

You will love ergos, when you get one. Save money and get Native5, instead of Native. I believe it is much better knife.
Also do not forget Sharpmaker.
"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf"

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

Indeed. You won't have to worry about getting talked out of buying a new spydie here.

Welcome to the forum and ^^^THIS^^^ advice is probably the best I can give as well. When you come to the game late, catching up can be almost impossible.
Your collection already has a great base. You will likely be needing a sharpening tool soon. Check out the Sharpmaker. Less than the cost of a Delica.

This is a great forum with great folks. Once you've been bit, you just can't quit. BE CAREFUL buying on ebay. Lots of fakes out there. Better to buy from reliable dealers. Enjoy the forum and your new knives. Be safe and kiss the contentes of your wallet goodbye. :D
