I like it. As others have said, it works well on the CF Sage 1 and other "dressier"offerings. I had a Super leaf and it worked alright though. You know, as sit here and look at my new SB Delica, a wire clip would look awesome next to that grey FRN on it. That's a good sprint idea.

I like Spyderco's wire clips but I tend to only carry knives with their hour-glass clips during the winter as I find my coat can catch the wire clip and pull it out of my pocket. I've had knives half come out of my pocket and even had a couple hit the floor. I think the hour-glass clips have more surface area in contact with my pocket and I'm sure the roughness of their G10 and FRN helps too.

I like it on the Dragonfly models. I'm a big guy and I've had several clipped knives (all makers) catch on seatbelts, chairs, etc and had them come out, hit the floor, etc. So far, the wire clips haven't done that. Also, I recently jumped in my wife's car quickly and GOUGED a strip down down the leather in the steering wheel with another brand knife on a pocket clip. I'm not living that one down yet... The strip of damaged area feels like the stitches on a baseball and is right where your left hand sits (between 9 and 10 oclock). I can't imagine the wire clip (with it's round wire) doing this.

Low rider wire clip is my favorite factory clip. Especially the "low light" ones.

The low riding wire clip is my favorite... I just wish more of them came in black.

Wire Clip = Low Rider

#27

Post by LC Kid »

Hi Folks!

I'm not a huge fan of clips, and usually I carry my blades loose in my pocket.
:D But I certainly like the Wire Clips, because generally they give you the very convenient low ride carry.

I don't hate it or love it. It is what it is. The full clips are fine with me. They both do what they're supposed to, and that's all I can ask for.

Defiantly No, I don't like it visually, both the clip and area where the clip is not on multi clip positions. Also how they function.

I find them very ugly and misplaced on high end knives.
Their retention is fairly low even when bent in and they are flimsy.

I own a Dodo which i love for its design but i rarely carry it because of the clip, this experience was enough to make sure i wont ever buy another knife with a wire clip.

Deacon, thank you for the website about the Spyderco Natives. Very well-put together. I like the photo angles of the knives.

Love it and what I like most other than what has already been mentioned is the fact that it's mounted for tip up carry on every model it comes on with the exception of the Des Horn.

I adore it with g10 knives as it seems to go in and our of the pocket much easier. I guess the less surface contact helps. Also like that many knives will take the Caly clip for a lowrider mod.

I really like the wire clip on my CF/Damascus Caly 3. Great for dressy occasions.

I "prefer" its function over its looks.

Don't mind the way the clip looks but dislike the way it functions as there is always an extra pull or push compared to a normal clip and I can't change the clip.
Non of my usual EDC knives have a wire clip and I won't buy a knife with one if I consider it for EDC and otherwise only if I like everything else about it.

My thoughts exactly. Love the wire clip though!

A lower carry wire clip on the Delica and/or the Endura would be interesting to check out :) A wire clip might not suit some other models also ;) I'll defer to the Spyderco design team :)

Quite enjoy choils and wire clips where they are currently used and purposed ;)
