K390 Model Poll Part 1

#1

Post by Evil D »

Sal mentioned that if the K390 sprint were to happen, it would have to be a Taichung model. So, here's a poll with half of the currently made Taichung model (You can only have 10 options per poll and that's not enough to include all the Taichung models). Have at it!

The second part of the poll can be found here http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthre ... oll-Part-2

I don't see PPT on either of your polls.

In my head, that seems like the most ideal model.

Also, if it ends up being a Chaparral, wouldn't you have to do a poll on the scale material?

I only listed the currently made Taiwan models, and the PPT is discoed. And yeah, like the Sage, handle material would be the next poll, like lock choice would be if the Sage won.

I voted for the Bradley, but if it couldn't be that one then it'd be interesting to see it on the Nilakka. Mmmmmmm zero grind K390 *droooooool*

I'd like to suggest that people only vote in one pole, otherwise you'll be voting against your other choice ;) (and maybe mine) Just figured some compulsive key punchers couldn't resist

Honestly...none of them. I would prefer to wait and have the Military.

That being said, if it gets pushed though....I think that the Chokwe would be the best choice. As a steel that would make a great slicer, the Chokwe wins for that task anyway. With K390 it would be like owning a lightsaber.

The rest of the models, other than the PPT, honestly just don't do it for me with this steel. ESPECIALLY the Domino and Sage knives which I dislike anyway. In fact if K390 ended up on a Domino or Sage, I can say that I wouldn't buy it despite my love for the steel.

Since we're having two poles, I think maybe we should have a runoff between the top 4 or 5 knives after these poles are finished.

Theoretically, waiting for a Boulder-made knife should probably be included in the poles, but I personally favor going ahead with a Taichung knife, because I want one :p Also, another great metal will probably turn up in a 2015 Boulder knife sprint if the K390 is used this year.

But, since I've got the K390 mule, I may skip this run if the knife chosen is not near the top of my Taichung want-list. May the best knife win

all the models i want are either part of a series, or a collaboration. Have they ever done a sprint for a colab or a knife part of a series, like the sage and chaparral?

I realized that after I posted, but they both come up as current models when you search through the catalog under Taiwan as origin of country. Others like the PPT have been moved to the disco section.

There's only 2 polls because we're limited to a max of 10 options per poll.

I already own a Gayle Bradley and air. I will probably get a South Fork in the next month or two. I have been on the edge of buying a Southard for awhile now, but I don't think the steel upgrade will push me over that edge.

I have also been on the edge of buying a Sage 2 for a while. I think a steel upgrade would push me over the edge on this one. I vote Sage.

Right, but I was regarding it as one extended pole (one vote for the whole thing) and some are voting in both, and I was just wondering if and how that might affect the outcome. Probably wouldn't make much difference, but, for example, someone could cause his own 1st choice to lose to his second choice, no big deal :) there'll probably be a runaway winner anyway.

Bringing again a discontinued model is part of the interest of the sprint run initiative. For example this year they made a sprint run of the Lum tanto that was a collab and is listed has discontinued.

So I guess that the PPT is perfectly eligible for a K390 sprint as any discontinued model made in Taiwan.
