Kopa Cocobolo got me hooked on Spydercos.
I had Sharpmaker -great tool and Native - inexpensive option for $40 try S30v supersteel (that was in 2005). Neither of them made me want to buy more spydies, but when I got my first Kopa I realized that I need full set. I joined Forum and downhill from there.......

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

I voted "other" because it was Sal's willingness to experiment with newer blade steels that enticed me to give Spyderco a try more so than any particular folder style. S30V, ZDP-189, CTS-XHP, CTS-204P and CTS-20CP are but a few of the offerings that brought me permanently into the fold.

I started carrying a Spyderco in the 90s and still own a few of the older Spydies. My most carried was the stainless Pro-Venator with the Snap-it being my field knife clipped to the front of my fishing vest, but I have not carried either consistently for a few years. A few months ago I came across a Sage 1 at a large sporting goods store. I immediately fell in love with the knife, so it was the Sage 1 that rekindled my interest in Spyderco knives. I would now classify my interest as more of an addiction and I can't wait to get my next Spyderco, and my next one, and my next one... :D

Until two weeks ago I had a few folding knives (a couple of Berettas, Bucks, Kershaw, and cheap no-names). I keep a couple in each car and the rest around the house. I was EDC a keychain Swiss Army Classic (Ladybug size).

Then two weeks ago I bought my first Spyderco (a PE Tenacious). Since then, I've bought:
  • Dragonfly
  • Delica
  • Manix Ltwt. Blue
  • Native 5 (on order)

I'm considering (but will eventually own):
  • Manbug ZDP
  • Chaparral
  • PM 2
  • Salt 1
  • More Dragonflys (Salt, ZDP, Orange) ...

I may have a problem ...

Tenatious got me hooked. Driving many miles back and forth to remote work sites flicking that puppy gave me hrs of therapy. Not to mention a sore thumb. Lol

Funny, a Q was my first spyderco too
Once it dissapeared it was replaced with a blue handled 93mm CE rescue (with the funny cutout in the spine)

I then joined the forum after reading "Hannibal" i was originally trying to find what a civilian looked like.

It snowballed rapidly from there

C03 Hunter. It was an amazing leap in functionality over anything I'd carried before 1984. For the most part I never again carried a knife without a clip or a hole after that.

I voted "other" because it wasn't really a specific knife that got me hooked. In truth, I made several "mistakes" when I started out ten years ago. I wound up purchasing several knives that, aside from the Spyderhole opener, simply did not work for me. The Spyderhole was what made me keep trying until I finally found a couple models that I liked, the Native and the Kiwii. The Kiwi has been a constant for me ever since. I own a ridiculous number of them and am almost never without one in my pocket. The Native didn't stay in favor as long. It was good, but it got replaced. First by the Schempp Persian, which was better, and then by what I consider the best design Spyderco has ever offered, the Stretch.

Voted other as it was not as much any specific product as the philosophy and mentality behind all of them that got me hooked. This forum and many Spydercomeets kept me hooked although my remaining disposable income forces me to choose more carefully then I would like.

I really like the G10 lockbacks: D4, N5 and the now-disco'd Caly3.

Late to the game, I got a Tenacious (have since given it to a friend). Earlier, I might have gone for a Delica or Endura, but, what with all the newer models and my late discovery of the Stretch, I don't suppose I ever will.
