Yojimbo2 With Emerson Opener?

#1

Post by Officer Gigglez »

Why hasn't this been made yet? The blade is made for defensive purposes right? I mean the name is "Bodyguard" in Japanese, and the Emerson opener goes hand in hand with folding defensive knives... so... bring on the waved Yojimbo!

Because of the shape of the blade and how it was designed for thumb position in Filipino grip. Adding the wave hook would ruin that.

Sounds like a Sprint.
From my reading seems people that have and appreciate the waves love them but I think some just have no interest.
Guess it depends on the regular sales but I'm surprised there isn't a waved version either.

I like the idea but I don't think the Emerson wave would work with the sabre grip.

Oops. David beat me to it. Let's just focus on getting an all black DLC version first before we get too fancy ;)

The knife was made to Mike's specs as David mentioned. That or Emerson wasn't lee on it. Or they didn't want to pay the royalties.

A zip tie solves most wave problems without making the lines funky. Personally, I think the D4/E4 looks great with it but the Matriarch2 is pretty dumb looking.

Can't really zip tie it either for the same reason.

Actually Charlie mike has a unique way to do a wave mod. Check it out when you get it a chance. It is completely plausible. The images used to be here(http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... wave-mods]) but they expired basically he had his modded to where the wave is only visible when closed but when open, it retreats into the handle and disappears. It is an amazing way of doing it.

What about pkal style wave? I would totally love to see more waved knives that have that metal pin.

Send him a message and ask for a pic of his work. Basically it is the only way i can see a wave being done.

Well, Mike didn't because it doesn't suit his grip preference. Anyone can add a zip tie and lose very little if they don't care about that grip.

This thread of his has some pics still up.

Personally, I don't like it, it ruins the lines of the Yo2 while opened.

It was different for me at first, but now I find that I try to grip in Filipino on every knife I can do so on, and saber grip feels foreign to me. The Yo 2 just never felt right at all in saber grip.

I do agree it messes with the lines of the Yo2 when opened but it is still cool since it hides the wave

Filipino extends the thumb forward onto that dip in the spine of the blade. Saber is typically on top of the pivot area somewhere, usually where you'll find most thumb ramps.
