I detest thumb studs  I've sharpened a few Kershaws and Benchmades for folks, but always thought of a Spyderco that was in class and was in my mind a better value with nicer materials and workmanship.

Microtech? That's a new one. I've had awful experiences with Microtech and I only hear bad things about them. Obviously you have different experiences with them.BOHAWG wrote:1. Spyderco

Yeah. My Spyderco buy list is long compared to that of the other brands.3rdGenRigger wrote:Spyderco, Spyderco, and Spyderco.
In all seriousness though, there are a few Kershaw, Gerber, and CRKT knives I don't mind, but I have far too many Spydercos on my immediate want list...I probably won't get to other brands for quite a while unless I grab a small custom fixed blade, but I still have at least 6 or 7 Spydercos I want *cough* need *cough* before that happens.

Yeah. Thumb studs are simply sub par compared to the Spydie hole. I sell Spyderco's all the time when I let someone fondle one of my Spydie's, and every time it is the hole that gets the most attention. They compliment the overall knife, but once they deploy it with the hole they walk away with a new knife love in their hearts.dbcad wrote:Spyderco

Jeez. Do you intend on decapitating your attacker? That is a huge blade. I take it you don't conceal that... (How can you?) Never the less, I'm certain it will get the job done, and that's all that matters.dgebler wrote:As far as collecting goes, I really stick to Spyderco, but I have a few others...

Actually the Spartan folds up and tucks in a pocket quite nicely. It even has a fairly low riding clip position. It is fairly large, although the first Cold Steel I bought was the G10 Espada XL. That is huge. With steel liners and a chunky handle the Spartan is comparatively heavy, but it is reassuringly solid.Officer Gigglez wrote:Jeez. Do you intend on decapitating your attacker?
