Are you having rust issues etc? My Endura and Manbug are flawless even after much use. I just always wipe them off.

ZDP is stainless. Getting a good patina might be difficult. Planning on using some sort of acid?

I just guess i was curious bc i use my knives for a lot and was thinking that while hunting since blood has a higher concentration on salt than most things that i may come in contact with a little preventive maintenance could help. plus i was curious if i could get the blade a duller gray color

I've heard of people getting a very light ghost like staining on ZDP, but nothing like a typical patina. It's a stain resistant steel, but nothing like VG10. Your biggest worry would be rust but you'd have to neglect it for that to happen. Keep it clean and wash/dry after contact with blood and it'll be fine.

My most used steel is probably ZDP since its in several of my favorite Spydercos like the Stretch and Endura. Like all my other steels, I apply Flitz and coat it in Ballistol (just one of these products will help but I have both) sparingly and it keeps the blade from corrosion. Simply rinsing and drying after use especially on reactive things like food should also keep it from spotting up. Although stainless, it's not as resistant as other steels with all that carbon in the mix. It's harder to patina but it does spot.

This has been my experience trying to force patina ZDP-189.

In my experience, ZDP-189 tends to pit rather than patina. I carried the ZDP Delica a lot last summer - in sweaty shorts pockets at Scout Camp. It did experience a little minor pitting, but I polished it out with some Flitz and it hasn't had any long-term problems. Like the guys said - just keep it clean and dry and you won't have to worry about corrosion of any type.

thanks to everyone i generally keep all my blades clean. but i know that I can't get away with the level of corrosion resistance that vg10 has…. I left a dragonfly stuck into beach sand for a few hours once and nothing. i am super excited about this ZDP
