Mine was one of the Boy Scout folders I got when I was in the Cub Scouts. Many, many moons ago. :D

Victorinox Classic my dad gave me when I was 5-6 years old. We used to be I out in the woods a LOT looking for mushrooms. He used - and still uses a Vic Climber to cut and clean the mushrooms and I was the happiest kid when he decided I'm old enough to use a knife on my own. Good times... :)

Buck 112 that I got for my 13th birthday in 1978. I live in Los Angeles and was actually allowed to bring it to school. Teachers would even borrow it in class sometimes. How times have changed...... :(

A Böker hunting folder, that my granddad gave me one year before he passed away.
30+ years later it's still in my possession, will always remind me of him. One of my never-give-aways.

I had many knives in my youthful years, two I remember were a handmade aluminum handled boot knife, and a genuine PUMA folding knife with ABS plastic handles and Solingen German Steel blade. I lost it and miss it to this day.

A cheapo Smith and Wesson Special Tactical, Tanto Blade, pretty sure its 440c, but not 100%, and it has a black coated blade. Still have it. Its battered to ****, but retains an edge pretty well. I recently fashioned a handle out of wood for it, as the folder handle fell apart. So now it is a fixed blade. I use it as a beater.

Am fairly sure mine was a miniature slipjoint folder out of one of the "gumball" type trinket dispensing machines that were popular sixty years ago. Funny thing is, it was probably made in Japan, since that's where most of the cheap junk came from back then.

It is. And I had some of those too. Even before the BSA. I'd forgotten all about those. Thanks for the memory,Paul!

The "blades" on those things were barely even metal. ;)

Those brass locking tabs on the scout knife sure brings back memories. Always hated those things ...

A Parker one arm pillbuster when I was quite young, a few Swiss Army knives too. I got into Spyderco in 2005 when I bought a Salt 1 and Atlantic Salt at the same time, both plain edge. I still use the Atlantic as a beater, but sadly lost the Salt 1 somewhere down the line.

Some kind of exotic slippy that my Grandfather acquired in Germany in the 1920's, then handed to my mother, who then passed it on to me sometime in 60s. But she immediately took it away after she caught me fixing bayonet with it on my BB gun :D . A year later my parents bought me a more fitting Boy Scout knife, along with lessons on proper care and use...I think that was 1968. Still have it too.

Stealing Don's photo, but my first knife was the same blue Cub Scout knife as the one in his picture.
