That looks pretty good. Wasn't the G10 side always thinner than the Ti side? Looks like you made the CF a little thicker?

I think you have it reversed. The G10 side the thicker side.

Was this on EDCF too? I swear I've seen it before, and it looks just as good the second time around.

I bought mine used, and it came with CF. I believe the ebay listing called it a "pimped out Southard, yo!"

I'll try to get a photo, but honestly I almost never carry it. The flipper just doesn't fit me--I'm much more comfortable with standard spyderhole opening.

Prefer the last one. Pretty happy with the brown G10, but I have been considering making micarta or wood scales for mine.

Everyone's CF scales are awesome, you are making me very jealous! Just thought I'd add my $2.50 mod pic to the mix. A little black RIT dye and a $20 G10 scale for the Domino that matches the Southard's scale and I'm really digging my new flipper duo:

The Southard seems to even work a bit better since I took it apart and put it back together again (thankfully! always a bit nerve-wracking to take these things apart, isn't it?). Cheers.

Hi JB3, cool scales! Any reason you didn't put the lanyard tube back on? Just curious... and a bit envious that you have two Southards!! ;)

Hi LC, the G10 scale for my Domino was made by Allen Putnam and I bought it when he auctioned it off on eBay a few weeks ago (no one else bid on it, go figure). He described it as "not perfect but close", which I can attest to, it's only off a hair here and there over the Ti. Feels great, much less slippery as the stock scale and it nicely matches the one Spyderco uses on the Southard. Allen Putnam has a website at bladescales.com, and I bought a PM2 sculpted G10 set made by him at BladeHQ a few months back, really nice stuff! Hope that helps! :)

Nice CF!
I put a THINNER G10(too even out the "off" thickness) scale on mine, does that count? :D

Well, I showed my simple dye job version (which covers its dings from being dropped in a parking lot :( ), so it'd definitely be great to see your mod. What color is the G10? Still the coarse version?

Used the the same Earth Brown, in course texture. Didn't make the little dipsy do the factory has for the spidy hole. It's about .030" thinner, makes a difference visibly.
I know, not my greatest shots, my cat wanted to get in the shot. :D

Teach me! haha. Is it as simple as bringing the RIT to simmering and dropping the scale in?
