Thats what Eric told us during the Spyderco meet in A'dam. No Bio blue because its very hard to make a flat piece. And if I look at the pics I think I see a hint that gives it away. Bio Blue should have been nearly impossible to scratch so why put a piece of cardboard between the scale and clip if this cannot scratch :)mattman wrote:I thought the Bio-Blue version was not going to happen (for the "employee" edition, or the general release) due to some kind of issue with the manufacturing process...?
I'm not 100% positive, but my memory feels pretty strongly about this one...

mattman and IG-88 are correct. All the materials are Carpenter Technology materials, but we did not use BioBlu in the Foundry knife. We have just barely started shipping a small number of the employee orders from Carpenter for the C160P Foundry. At this time, I don't have an ETA for the consumer version.

I contacted the seller and found out the following:
I can attest to the quality of the knife so if you did not win one of the two auctions you may still have a chance....if you could just mention that the knife is genuine and let everyone know that it is a quality piece. Spyderco is filling our orders very gradually. I was one of the first to be shipped. We are only allowed two each. Eventually more will be on ebay.

I'm sure they made a fine profit. My October Spyderco Byte had it as an announcement.
At this time, the C160P Foundry is a special project between Spyderco, Inc. and Carpenter Technology, Inc. to bring a unique offering available exclusively to Carpenter Technology, Inc. employees and retirees. The good news is Spyderco will be offering a Foundry CLIPIT to the general market after we have fulfilled our exclusive commitment. The general production Spyderco Foundry CLIPIT will be publicly unveiled in the Spyderco product line as a line-item CLIPIT folder and will carry an MSRP of $349.95."
Price is a little disappointing. Things are getting a little too expensive these days in the offerings from Spyderco.

Kristi,
Please update when you can. The Byte announcement in October seems to suggest that release of a public version can't be too far off.
Thanks.
