X2. My Chaparral gets more pocket time than any of my knives. The ergos are basically perfect, and the thin blade is great for slicing. It also sits nicest in my pocket...it even blocks my hand less than my Dragonfly does when I'm reaching for stuff in my pocket. It's really so thin it's like it's not there.

Not scary and good for food prep?

Depends on WHICH food exactly I think to give a right recommendation.

But if you are looking to something:
- smaller in size
- the ability of thoroughly cleaning
- not having to bother about corrosion of internal parts

Salt 1 Plain Edge
blade length 3" (76 mm)
cutting edge 2.687" (68 mm)

Hola Madrid. Bienvenidos! If you are looking for a folder to use in food preparation, I would definitely consider the brown calypso sprint run. I don't know what you mean by "not scary". If someone really thinks I'm going to go crazy in my kitchen and start trying to kill them then I would think a meat cleaver should look a lot more scary than a 4" folder...or a rolling pin for that matter. ;) .

P.D. Estaba en Madrid en el año pasado. Mi novia es de España. Huay puta, las navajas son muy caros alli eh?

I use my Endura4 and Pacific Salt for food prep regularly with no problems. Hand washed of course and periodic maintenance with Frog Lube. Less so with the Pacific Salt and its H1 steel.

My fully serrated ZDP-189 Delica has seen use as a steak knife quite a few times.

The best Spydie for eating is either the South Fork or the Moran, depending on your budget.

If you want to be able to use it and then throw it in the dishwasher, you probably don't want to go with the South Fork, though.
