Inventory question: Super Blue sprints

#1

Post by Blerv »

Hello Sal or anyone who knows this question :) .

I should be less anxious at this point but it seems the SB knives are trickling in and almost totally going to eBay for a price hike. I'd rather support my favorite dealers than random eBay trolls (plus I'm cheap :p ).

Should we expect to see more eventually or are the 1200 Delica and Endura out there? Thx!

As far as the Endura sprint went, when they first came out it seemed like very few. I fished around for a reason why. What I found was that normally the sprints from the "Seki" plant are usually shipped in small batches.

The Enduras were trickling out. I had a series of bookmarks for the product pages so I could monitor who had them in stock. My bookmarks included: Howes, Knifeworks, New Graham, GP Knives, and National Knives.

I didn't get around to updating my bookmarks to the delicas yet.

That's what I'm thinking too, Donut.

I bought a Caly3 SB and they seemed to last quite a while at $130. The idea of paying $110 for a Delica to make a scalper happy doesn't make sense. If rather just go through SFO.

There is no way all 1200 Enduras were released. Seems like the big on line place got about 20 and Cutlery Shoppe for instance has not sold the first one. Their website shows "future product". I really like mine and am now getting weirded out about grabbing a second or not. Seems like they might be gone. I will say I am really shocked at how crappy the flipper sect of our hobby has gotten. I think throwing a Forum knife on the bay for a gouge just sucks as do folks who grab 3 sprints( one for me, one to safe, and one to pay for the first two).

The Endura might be gone but the Delica hasn't really hit yet. Not sure why. Shows in stock at SFO.

I got one of the KW presale lot that went up last week. IIRC about 8 went live and sold quickly. I did not realize they would be collectors club versions, but oh well.

I migrated my bookmarks over and have been checking them.

Howe's is listing 10 in stock. Who is a better favorite dealer? =)

Thanks for the heads-up, Donut...I just snagged one. The release of the SB Endura was frustrating (dribs and drabs, here and there) so I didn't delay on this one!!! Can't wait!!!!

When I was trying to track down a SB Delica a week or 2 ago, many of my usual favorites were out of stock. I did find a "collector's" one at Howes, and while I would have preferred a regular over a Collector's, I figure it's going to be a user and get marked up anyway, so I went ahead and ordered the Collector's one.

I agree with the OP that they seem scarce for a 1200-count run, and would hope that means that there are plenty more coming, they just haven't all been released yet.

I've only recently become so enamored with Super Blue. I bought my SB Caly some time ago, and it pretty much just sat in my drawer at first, I guess all the talk of how easily it rusts made me afraid to carry it :) but after I got my SB Endura, and tried sharpening it, I *do* like how easily it gets a really nice edge! Not planning to force a patina on mine, but haven't got around to coating them with tuff-glide yet either.

HKS is supposed to be getting a stock of Delicas in next week for anyone interested, I'm guessing other sites will be getting shipment in as well.

I really wonder if some of the Enduras did not go straight to the Bay ala Bento Box but from other retailers. Again, there is no way 1200 were released through the normal avenues. I mean if 10 retailer each got 10, we are at 100. My local shop got 2 and I grabbed one and should have grabbed the other one it seems. And the bad part is the E4 was the only SB FRN that really interested me. I might think about a Stretch but no interest in the others.
