No, it isn't some rare disc'd model or sprint run, just a few gen 1 dragonflys. I LOVE the dragonfly 2's, and they are an improvement on the design( i have 3), but I really have a soft spot for the gen-1 dragonflys. I have a aus-8,PE no spyder logo model my wife bought me years ago. Since I only had the one, I kept it locked away and didn't use it in fear of losing/breaking it and have been on the lookout for a back-up one for a while. Since they are discontinued they are sometimes a chore to find, and when I do find them, they are usually more $$ than a gen 2 model.
But, last week was my lucky week. I managed to find a NIB VG-10 SE late gen -1 model for $40 shipped to my door. I would have preferred a PE version, but I was still happy about what I bought. Later that week I won a NIB/old stock PE d'fly 1 with aus-8 for $30. Now I have exactly what I want! Now, I can't believe this myself, but the day after I won the PE d'fly, I found someone selling a used d'fly 1 for $30. I took a chance and bought it and aside from a dulled factory edge and a small bit of lint, the knife was in excellent condition. I'll have to stop buying knives for a while now, but that's OK, because I am going to use my dragonfly as my primary edc for the forseeable future. Call me strange, but I'm just as excited to get these more common models as someone would be getting an ultra-rare or sprint model. Different strokes I guess.
