SMALL GAME KNIFE
WHAT WOULD MAKE A GOOD SMALL GAME KNIFE FROM SPYDERCO?? I AM NEW TO SPYDERCO KNIVES; HAVE NEVER OWNED ONE AND WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A KNIFE FOR SMALL GAME. ANY SUGGESTIONS?? THANK YOU. JEFFREY COSTIGAN.
Although it is discontinued, if you can find it, the Spyderco Tim Wegner collaboration is an excellent knife for small game as well as the large game it was designed for. There is also the Catcherman, designed for fishing, but its very flexible blade is good for small game. If you prefer a fixed blade, I definitely recommend the Moran drop point or Featherweight, it's an excellent knife with wonderful balance, superb steel, and an especially good belly for skinning or general camp utility.

"IMO the military would fill the roll.Theres not much it can't do."
Except function as a decent small game knife. You could hardly make a worse choice, what with the Millie's flat grind (good for deep cuts while you need a hollow grind for shallow cutting), a pointy blade (wrong shape for skinning), high rigidity (you need flexibility), okay but not great corrosion resistance (try VG10), difficult to sharpen in the field (try VG10 again)...the list goes on and on. Hey, my EDC is a Millie and I think it's a great knife, but no one knife does everything, Sebenzanistas to the contrary. The Military is a very bad choice for a small game knife.

Hello, and welcome!
Small game can take on a different meaning depending upon whether you are from alaska or arkansas. Nonetheless, the progrip is probably a good start as a skinner. The wegner is awsome, but I'd sooner skin a moose with it than a small deer or "small game".
Get a progrip lightweight, can't go wrong for your first spydie. Spend a little more and get a progrip stainless. omigod-beauty.

Hi Jeffry,
I use the my Tim Wegner Team for hunting.
What the Mouse wont do, the C48 will!!
They are, like the Impala, made for caping and skinning.
BTW, Welcome to the forum, stick around!!
Vox.
Repeat the mantra - "Spydie is good, Round is all - Life is Round, Life is Good, Spydie is Life is Round is LIfe. Round and Round, and Round forever." (Chuck.)

Howdy Jeffrey! Welcome to <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>Land! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
I would recommend the Dyad Sr. It's discontinued, but eknifeworks still has them for around $50. It has a nice, deep belly, and a serrated edge for any other chores you come across. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Never underestimate the impossible.
