A beautiful variation of a design from Pat Crawford which he had made in Japan and marketed in the 1990s-90s as the 'Key Chain Cutter'. Perhaps Seizo Imai made the originals for him.
I suppose it is/was a patent/trademark violation. :eek:

I love the bevel on the Spyderhole. Looks nice with that steel.

If they make it in S30V/VG-10, I'm in ALL THE WAY. I've always liked the blade shape of the Higonokami, kinda like a clip point and a sheepsfoot had a baby.

The blade is called a Wharncliffe, named for James Archibald Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 1st Baron Wharncliffe (1776–1845) by Joseph Rodgers Cutlery Company of Sheffield, England as he was a patron and supporter of the Sheffield cutlery industry.

Defiantly a good idea, however it seem like a particularly difficult design to modernize.

The company that these sell under is called Pierre super or similar at least that's what they are marketed as in Europe see this link it also shows how we pay through the roof here .

You can do a lot with the principal features of the higonokami.
The friction on these friction folders is adjustable. They are comfortable in the pocket. With a little training they are one handed openers.
These have "peelply" textured hunting orange G10 scales and 1/8" A2 steel blades: I carry a black smooth G10 version as EDC; The blade on the larger folder is 2 1/2":
