Any one ever re-grind a mule to a different shape?

Hi All,
Hope this hasn't been asked a lot but I couldn't find it if it has; so - I got my first mule and really would love more blade and less handle and was wondering if anyone had made major modifications to a mule such as those in the attached mock up I made. Thoughts?

Interesting design.

I bet the hardened K390 would be a real bear to grind...

Don't have a huge amount of experience with mules (only two until the K390 arrives). I can't imagine losing any handle length while retaining the function of the knives. The ergos are very goo (along with the halpern scales in my case). Is the intention to then sharpen the exposed tang? If so I can see the rational. My limited time, sharpening tools and gear would put this type of project out of reach for me. Just resetting a bevel takes enough time that I only do it when necessary.

The mock up is not really my thing, but to each his own. If you think it will work for you go for it. Let us know how it turns out if you try.

Yes, I have re-ground two of my mules to make them (to me) a little bit more ergonomic. Here is one of them, this is Cruwear, which has been thermally coated with black Molyresin:

And this one is M390:

I hadn't seen that one, but now I want to shrink my XHP into something similar. Wow!

OK. So it seems that not many Mules have been cut up to be something much different than they were. Here is another idea I had for more of a hunting knife with a gut hook. But I have never made a knife so I wasn't sure of the compromise having only 2/3 tang under the handle. any ideas on how workable this would be?

I forgot this one, which I use a lot in my kitchen:

My other Spyderco kitchen knife is my S90V Southfork, but that one has not been ground. The only thing I did on that one, again to aid for kitchen use with wet hands, was to rough the grip material (with sandpaper, by hand) make it a little bit more grippy. Now with my hands completely wet I don't fear the knife slipping in my hands (I feel the factory finish is too smooth).

Same here, WOW, I wonder how much smaller the finished blade is.
